William Bradford Bishop Junior
from Without a Trace
A once successful diplomat from a picture‑perfect family unraveled under the weight of career pressure, marital strain, and long‑standing psychological turmoil. After being passed over for a promotion in the mid‑1970s, he abruptly left work, purchased tools later tied to a brutal crime, and that night carried out the unthinkable. What followed was a decades‑long international manhunt marked by mysterious sightings, strange letters hinting at possible accomplices, missing documents, and dead‑end leads stretching from North Carolina to Europe. Despite renewed interest over the years, the fugitive has never been found, leaving behind one of the most haunting unsolved family homicide cases in American history.
