On Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 1 p.m. U.S. Pacific Time, the U.S. Transhumanist Party invites William Dawley, PhD, to discuss his insights into the anthropology of the transhumanist and cryonicist communities. William Dawley is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bergen in Norway, working on the Technoscientific Immortality project, where his role is to research cryonics in the United States and better understand the transhumanists associated with it, especially their view of humanity's place in history and the future. He brings to the project his research interests in processes of sociocultural change and political-economic change and of the role of technology in these changes (especially biomedicine and new social-organizational technologies), and in how these changes interact with constructions of family and gender, and in a multidisciplinary, historical approach to the study of religion, spirituality, and secularism.Find out more about the Technoscientific Immortality project at https://www.uib.no/en/humanfutures.
