Everyone wants to win or - at the very least - not feel like a loser. Despite all types of money and successes, deep inside a lot of people is the "not enough/loser" feeling. If you have that, "losing" will continue to follow you despite anything you acquire. Since everything you acquire is on loan, choosing to chase "stuff" prevents you from working out the kinks in your foundation that prevent real and lasting success. You were born to win.
