Send a textHello Friends!         Winter is coming! I'm excited about it!  Summer is my favorite season in Iceland, fall is a close second. Northern lights are shining brightly like a rainbow in the night sky. Halloween (Hrekkjavaka) is coming, and it has been growing in popularity every year people started observing it here. Thanksgiving (Þakkargjörð) is also observed in Iceland.  Not for the same reasons Americans have to be thankful for, but you will see turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce available in Icelandic supermarkets the week leading up toThanksgiving and all the way through Christmas, for that matter. Also, you will see North American pumpkins (the orange ones) available for Halloween and Thanksgiving. They were non existent here until recent years. I've even seen the pumpkin pie filling in a can. If you find yourself in Iceland between now and December 25th this is what you have to look forward to.
