Winter Solstice - 24 Sacred Nights

from BREATHE - This Is Life · host Monika Schuster

Winter Solstice — The Night of StillnessIn this longest night of the year, the Winter Solstice invites us into stillness, reflection, and gentle preparation. Darkness reaches its peak, yet the light quietly begins its return — a reminder that even in pause, new life and possibilities are emerging. This is the perfect night to prepare for the Sacred Nights, which begin December 24/25. Tonight, you are invited to slow down, create space, and set intentions for the coming days.✨Preparing Your Sacred Space✨Candle: either a real or an electric one. Light a candle to symbolize the returning light. You can carve a word into the candle to extend its energy — like love, trust, harmony.✨Blanket & Pillow: Make your space cozy and safe.✨Incense: Use the collection from the Sacred Nights:Sage: Purification, clarity, and groundingLavender: Calm, ease, intuitionCedar: Strength, stability, opening the heartMugwort: Visions, inner guidanceFrankincense & Myrrh: Wisdom, sacredness, deep reflection✨Journal & Pen: For your wishes and reflections.✨Winter Solstice Wish Ritual✨This night is ideal for planting heart-centered intentions:Prepare 13 Wishes: Write each wish on a separate piece of paper. Let them flow from your heart — big or small, practical or profound. For example: “I want to open my heart again to people” or “I want my own car, my own home”.Place in a Bowl: Keep your wishes in a bowl where you can see them daily. Each day during the Sacred Nights, draw one without looking and burn it to release its energy into the universe.Candle Energy: If using a real candle, carve a word into it to integrate the energy of the intention.Create Your Sacred Space: If you haven’t done so yet, prepare a consistent space for meditation, journaling, or rituals. Repeating your practice in the same place builds a deep, supportive energy over the Sacred Nights.✨A Gentle ReminderThe Solstice teaches us that stillness is fertile. By preparing tonight, you honor your inner rhythm, clear space for new energy, and set the tone for the magic and reflection of the Sacred Nights.✨Welcome to the Winter Solstice —a night of peaceful preparation, heart-centered wishes, and gentle turning toward the returning light.

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
