Winter Weather Advisory | New York Weather 6 AM
from The New York Weather Podcast
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New York Weather Podcast. It's Wednesday, February 25th. And folks, if your alarm just went off.. The snow already beat you to it. A clipper system is pushing through right now. Timing? Brutal for the morning commute. Down in the city, snow flies from 5 A.M. through 9 A.M. It's peaking right around 5 A.M., so you're walking into the thick of it. Temperatures start at 32 degrees but it feels like 22. That damp, biting kind of cold that cuts straight through denim. Winds swing southwest around 7 A.M. By 5 P.M. you're up to 42 degrees and the snow is a memory. Now push north. The Capital Region wakes up at 21 degrees. Wind chills near 11. Snow wraps up by 8 A.M. there. And highs crawl to 37 degrees by 1 P.M. Western New York.. You drew the short straw today. Snow stretches from 5 A.M. all the way to 5 P.M., peaking around 11 A.M. Highs touch 36 degrees near noon, then slide backward. Central New York catches a quick burst around 5 A.M., then dries out with highs near 38 degrees by 1 P.M. One thing to flag. Oswego and Lewis Counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory through Thursday morning. Four to eight inches possible. That's real accumulation. Tonight skies partially clear. Teens upstate. The city holds near 33 degrees. Now the week ahead tells a story. Thursday brings a slight chance of afternoon snow. Friday? Gorgeous. Sunny and calm. Saturday warms into the mid 40s.. A little spring whisper. Then a cold front slams the door Saturday night. Sunday drops you right back into the 20s and 30s. Classic bait and switch. We're gaining almost three minutes of daylight now. Sunrise at 6:37, sunset at 5:43. Spring equinox is three weeks out. Keep those wipers fresh and leave ten minutes early this morning. Your future self will thank you. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
