Wisconsin's RB Starter Revealed | Wisconsin Badgers Football News

Wisconsin’s Luke Fickell has named Abu Sama as the starting running back for the season opener — a transfer from Iowa State with solid stats (1,900+ yards, 13 TDs) but limited production and usage. Standing at 5’11”, 211 lbs, Sama’s physical build suits the role, but he’s struggled to break 100 yards consistently and rarely sees heavy carries. Facing Notre Dame’s elite defense, his effectiveness will be closely watched — and since his role is now clear, the Irish won’t be caught off guard. This move gives Wisconsin clarity at a historic position — and fans are eager to see how Sama handles the spotlight right out of the gate.
