Wisdom: A Treasure Beyond Price
from The Word Alone Podcast · host Nathan A. Hughes
“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.”Proverbs 8:11We live in a world that constantly encourages us to pursue wealth, success, possessions, and recognition. Yet God reminds us that there is something far more valuable than anything this world can offer, wisdom.Biblical wisdom is much more than knowledge or intelligence. It is the God-given ability to see life from His perspective and to make choices that honour Him. A person may possess great wealth and still make foolish decisions that bring sorrow, while someone with very little can enjoy peace and stability because they walk in the wisdom of God.Notice that Solomon says “all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” That includes every earthly ambition and possession. Money can buy comfort, but it cannot purchase discernment. Education can increase knowledge, but it cannot produce godly wisdom. True wisdom comes from walking with the Lord, listening to His Word, and obeying His voice. Each day presents countless decisions, some small and some life-changing. Instead of relying solely on our own understanding, we should seek the wisdom that God freely gives to those who ask Him. As we do, we will find that His guidance is worth far more than anything money could ever buy.PrayerHeavenly Father, thank You for showing me that Your wisdom is more valuable than anything this world can offer. Help me to seek Your counsel before making decisions and to treasure Your Word above earthly riches. Give me a heart that desires to please You in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
