With reviews of Farming and The Vast of Night

We’ve got reviews of Farming, the directorial debut of British actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. It tells the story of ‘Eni’ a terrific performance from Damson Idris, a British Nigerian, ‘farmed’ out to a white foster family in 60s London. Based on Adewale’s own life, Farming is an honest and often brutal look at race, identity and what it means to be black growing up in multiracial Britain in the 70s and 80s. Next, is The Vast of Night. The directorial debut of Andrew Patterson. It follows two friends as they try to uncover the mystery behind a strange signal coming from somewhere above during the 50s America. The film is mysterious, eerie and at times, suspenseful. But is it any good? Find out by downloading the show! On Anniversary Corner we look back at: Blood Done Sign My Name, Guess Who, Freedom Song, Higher Learning and The Long Walk Home. On Hidden Gems we bring you Fruitvale Station (2013). The directorial debut of Ryan Coogler (Creed, Black Panther), is hard-hitting and based on true events which saw the murder of 22 year-old African-American, Oscar Grant by a police officer. The film depicts that fateful last day of Oscar’s life, played brilliantly by Micheal B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther). This film is powerful on any given day, but with everything that is happening world-wide, we think it deserves to be seen even more so. Go check it out.
