Episode 005 Genesis Title: Without Genesis Text: Genesis 1:1 Introduction: The book of Genesis is a remarkable book. First Mentions in Genesis Hermeneutics is the science of interpreting the Bible First Mention Principle – “the first mention of a subject, the truth with which that subject stands connected in the mind of God.” Subtlety of Satan – Gen 3:1 Genesis 3:1King James Version (KJV) 3 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Abraham believed God and He counted it for Righteousness. Righteousness is always counted to a man based on faith. This finishes chapter 1 “Most God centered chapters in the entire Bible. God is mentioned 32 times in 31 verses. It forms a basis for all the revelation of the Bible. It tells us the beginning of everything but God. It is the seed plot of the Bible. Genesis (incarnation of Christ in seed of woman) Read Title – “Without Genesis” Why is it attacked? (Illustration of our Beliefs) Gen 1:1, This verse is probably the most attacked of the entire Book. If God created us then what He says in His word is true. We are born sinners, Jesus is the only way, Hell is real,etc.. this is why Gen 1 is so attacked!             Atheism(no God)/ Agnosticism(is there a God?)- His existence
            Polytheism(Many gods)- Declaring Himself one
            Pantheism(all is God)- By separating Himself from matter
How is it attacked?
Man-Evolution, Atheism
The Devil- Gen 3:4 “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.”
 Time- Gen 1:5,8,13,19,22,31. There are a lot of theories about Gen 1. First of all Genesis one is NOT A THEORY! The Bible is very straight forward about what happened in the Beginning. There were 6 literal days! Many people will attack this chapter and add to it. (not much has changed)
        1. Day age theory- That the days mentioned are not 24 hour days but as ages/ periods of time
        2. Gap theory- Between vs. 1 and 2 there is a gap of countless ages ( fit for man)
        3. Revelation theory- Believe that days are not days of creation but of revelation to Moses

            a. Supernatural- Ex Nihilo- out of nothing
            b. Sudden- no build up, no delay, no trial, no error, no process, no gradual development
            c. Superior- animals adapted to environment and have all that is necessary to surive and live.
            d. Superficial Appearance of Age- Creation was fully complete and functioned from the beginning. God supernaturally created a full grown earth in 6 literal days. The earth did not need time or billions of years to do certain things.  *when you believe these theories man have came up with it helps them satisfy their opinion of long period of time to form the earth.
 Trinity- Gen 1:26
The Trinity- God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
Another reason why Gen 1 is attacked is because of the Trinity. The Trinity is the great three in one. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This is the great three in One. This shows Jesus Christ as God almighty. *illustration of how that is attacked* ( “lets weigh the evidence- Barry Burton” 1 Tim3:16)
A lot of false religions believe in Jesus but they do not proclaim Him as Lord. Rev 1:8 1 John 5:7King James Version (KJV) 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Outline: “Without Genesis” I. No Authority Romans 13:1 - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”  II. No Absolute Absolute - a value or principle that is regarded as universally valid or that may be viewed without relation to other things: (good vs evil) Romans 12:21 - Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
