Witnessing by Sharing our Stories | Sent | Week 6

from C4 Church Hawaii · host C4ChurchHawaii

Most of us stay quiet about our faith for one reason. We're convinced we don't know enough. In the final week of our Sent series, Pastor Chad opens John 9, where Jesus heals a man born blind and that man ends up in a theological interrogation he has no training for. Cornered by the experts, outmatched on every point, he says one of the most freeing sentences in the Bible: "One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see." This message walks through the difference between an expert witness and an eyewitness, gives you a simple three-part framework for telling your own story in about sixty seconds, and hands you something to say the next time a door opens. You don't have to know everything to say something.Discussion Questions:1. Pastor Chad said the reason we stay quiet comes down to one lie: "I don't know enough." What's the version of that lie that shows up in your head? Is it the hard questions, the fear of saying it wrong, or the feeling that your life doesn't back it up yet?2. Take Then, How, Now, and actually share it. Take roughly  1-2 minutes each, around the circle. Then: what was your life like before. How: what did Jesus do. Now: what's different. Rough and honest, not polished. If you're still in process, say that. It counts.3. The disciples looked at this man and asked, "Whose fault is this?" Jesus moved the conversation to what God was about to do. Is there a chapter of your own story where you're still parked on the first question? What would it look like to start asking the second one about it?4. Pray for one another.
