Witt Returns as Royals Surge | Kansas City Royals News

Bobby Witt Jr. is back on the field for the Royals, activated from the injured list before Tuesday’s game after missing time with back tightness—he’s been a force, leading the AL in steals and crushing homers. To make room, the Royals called up pitcher Jose Cuas while sending Matt Strahm and Andrew Velazquez to waivers; Strahm struggled badly in his second stint, Velazquez barely saw any action. Witt’s return is huge—he’s one of only a handful of players ever to steal 30+ bases in each of his first five seasons, joining legends like Rickey Henderson and Ichiro. A three-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glove winner, and reigning Platinum Glove champ, Witt is a true elite player—and the Royals’ season just got a lot more exciting.
