Witt’s Knee Progress Offers Hope

Bobby Witt Jr. is inching closer to returning after a sprained knee sidelined him for his third straight game, but the encouraging news is he had a strong workout today—swinging, running, and fielding while wearing a brace. The manager called it “very encouraging,” and the team expects him back within days. Meanwhile, Maikel Garcia fills in at shortstop. Witt’s breakout season continues: leading the AL in stolen bases (28) and FanGraphs WAR (4.4), and he’s the top vote-getter for shortstop in the All-Star Game. His injury, a Grade One MCL sprain from Thursday’s game, hits at a crucial moment—but with cautious optimism, the focus remains on his safe, swift recovery.
