When Dan Burgess left WLRS to become a news anchor for WHAS, Terry Meiners was pushed into joining the LRS102 morning show with Ron Clay. It was 1981. Clay and Burgess had just begun to get noticed for irreverent comedy and WLRS wanted to heighten the buzz. The combination of Clay and Meiners took a few weeks to gel. Local writers took notice, published a few positive reviews, and then the show became the talk of the town.Here is audio of the early coupling of Clay and Meiners before they started producing recorded bits. The humor was there, now it just needed fresh publicity.Within the next 6 months, they would switch stations from WLRS to upstart rival rock station WQMF. Everyone noticed and Ron and Terry's Show With No Name was off and running.
