Wolf Run on JMB's New Old Show

Wolf Run shares a musical and personal bond with their dynamic musical kinship readily seen at their live shows. Wolf Run's vocals are compelling and their musicianship connects in a way that only players who have spent a lot of time together can achieve. Both Traum and Hines write songs, and they also play interesting less-traveled covers. In 2019 they added veteran drummer Kendrick Freeman into the mix, adding a rhythmic component and three-part harmonies to the group. Their sonic quality ranges from gentle acoustic ballads to deep pocketed grooves with grungy drive. All three band members sing and their songs feature tight harmonies and excellent musicianship. Adam Traum grew up as a blues/rocker kid in his family's folkie world in Woodstock, N.Y. He eventually found his way back to acoustic music where he was determined to hone his craft and acknowledge his musical roots. Traum's chops were sharpened playing in dive bars throughout Georgia and the south and later the San Francisco Bay Area. With the addition of a drummer he started playing his trusty Telecaster again along with his acoustic guitar and mandolin. Traum is a versatile guitarist and songwriter equally at home playing soulfully and quiet or digging in on uptempo numbers. Jack Hines trained on string bass with the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and later became entrenched in the Bay Area latin jazz and Brazilian music scene. He studied music at San Diego State and later San Francisco State. In addition to playing live, he taught music for fifteen years at Hanna Boys Center before playing music full time. His commitment to his craft is easily heard when he plays regardless of the genre. Hines' groove is infectious and he's always in the pocket. In addition to the bass, he plays viola de gamba, guitar and piano and writes his own songs. Kendrick Freeman is a welcome addition to the band as a drummer who sings and can lead a song. His tasteful drumming and deep pocket are a perfect addition to the dynamic that Traum and Hines have built up over their many years of playing together.
