Woman pleads for family heirlooms taken during South Philly car theft
from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
A South Philly woman packed her entire life into her car, getting ready to move to Florida. When she went to leave the next morning, it was all gone. Police say a group of thieves broke into Julia MacDonald’s car at 13th and Bigler streets around 4 a.m. Saturday and stole it. She says she pinged her AirPods and tracked them to a few blocks away on Mollbore Terrace, near 11th Street and Oregon Avenue. Surveillance video shows the thieves dumping some of her belongings on the road there before leaving. MacDonald was able to recover those items, but she told NBC10 she’s still missing sentimental jewelry and family heirlooms. The car was eventually recovered, but it wasn’t working. MacDonald and her father are now staying in an Airbnb while they wait for insurance issues to be sorted out. She's asking whoever has the missing jewelry to return it. (Photo credit: NBC10)
