Women in Construction? You bet! - Ep. 30

from Doing it Right: The Stories that Make Us · host RNCN

“Building” a career in construction is smart! Randee Herrin knows this firsthand. As SVP of New Construction at TDIndustries, she has successfully catapulted her leadership opportunities over the last 23 years and believes she was born into construction. Her dad was a general contractor in Houston, TX. Following his footsteps, Randee entered a construction science program at Texas A&M where she immediately knew it was a fit. Today she is raising awareness for recruiting Women in the Trade as a great vocation with plenty of opportunities and benefits. Nationwide, only 9.1 % of construction workers are women. Add to that, there’s a workforce shortage. There’s not a huge line out the door of people who want to be plumbers and pipe fitters. Schools haven’t been pushing the trades recently. So why not fill the void with women and give them a fulfilling career that they perhaps had not previously thought about? Getting the word out across this nation is what Randee is doing on behalf of TDIndustries.
