Women Of The Wagon Train

Originally Aired: July 29, 1938In The Lone Ranger #859, "Women Of The Wagon Train," the Lone Ranger and Tonto witness a buffalo stampede bearing down on a wagon train camped in a valley below. Though they try to warn the settlers, the herd sweeps through the camp, destroying wagons and scattering supplies. Miraculously, no one is killed, but the disaster proves to be the breaking point for many in the party. Led by the cantankerous Silas, several members want to abandon their journey west and return home. Grant Elder, the wagon train leader, struggles to maintain order as tempers flare and resolve wavers.When the masked rider offers encouragement and assistance, Silas grows suspicious of his motives and questions why a stranger would care about their success. The situation grows more heated when Charlotte, wife of the doubting Paul, boldly speaks up to defend the women's right to have a voice in the decision. As Grant works to restore the damaged wagons, tensions simmer over whether the group will continue their perilous journey or turn back to the East, defeated by the harsh realities of frontier life.
