Women Working in Male-Dominated Vocations | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"

from C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ

In this special episode of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", our team welcomes and features the women of C.A.R., engaging the subject, “Women Working in Male-Dominated Vocations”.Women working in historically male-oriented fields (such as ours, the automotive industry) typically have additional barriers to overcome and unique challenges to face. Each of our ladies share their story about how they came to work in these fields, sharing about overcoming challenges, some which are obvious, but others that are overlooked.Several of the men, all who have managed mixed teams of men and women in their careers, share about the importance of supporting women in male-dominated vocations. This happens by treating them equally, fairly, and with integrity. Of additional importance, is to approach vocational roles from the place of capability, rather than gender. Often, many of the challenges women combat in these industries are due to unethical systems that can be overcome with ethical leadership. Finally, the team shifts to read what the Bible teaches about the strength, industry, and capability of women at work. Relooking at what is often coined, “The Proverbs 31 Woman”, a full reading of the chapter (especially vv. 15-18) yields a much more complex, and diversely gifted woman, expanding the picture beyond reductionistic views, which can limit her calling to homemaking or personal piety, though each are important to God.Therefore, while we want to honor the important callings of women to marriage, motherhood, and homemaking, which are critical and needed for the strength and health of a family unit, we also want to note that God encourages women to use all their gifts for His glory, and to answer all the callings God places upon their lives. So, whether in the home, in the marketplace, or both, we want to encourage women to pursue all that God made them for, and to do it for His glory! Thanks for listening, and please like and subscribe to our channel if you find it helpful.
