Lesson Two: Saving Grace Intro.: The Bile teaches that God provides Grace for four specific reasons. Today’s lesson is about the first kind of grace: “saving grace”. 1. Saving grace is the redemption of our soul apart from the Law. - Keeping the law cannot justify anyone. Rom. 3:20 - We are justified freely by God’s grace. Rom. 3:24 - If we could keep the law for salvation we could boast. Rom. 3:27 - It is settled: one is justified by faith without the law. Rom. 3:28 - Salvation by grace confirms the law. Rom. Rom.3:3 Ref. Matt. 5:17-18; Rom.10:4; 8:3; Gal. 3:13 2. Saving Grace is Forgiveness apart from any work. - Salvation is the gift of God. Eph. 2:7-8 - Not of any works, so no man can boast. Eph. 2:9 - Ok, if the law cannot save me then what good works can I do to be saved? Jesus already answered that question. John 6:29 - Righteous works would be earning salvation which is impossible to do. Rom.4:4; true righteousness is believing on Jesus. Rom. 4:5 - No one in the O.T. or N.T. was ever forgiven by works. Rom. 4:6-8; Heb.10:4; 2 Cor.5:21 3. Saving Grace is receiving the Provision God made. - We are saved by grace but we are not saved BY grace. - God’s grace is why He saves not the provision. John 3:16 = God’s grace provided His only begotten Son. - Jesus is the means of salvation not grace. Rom. 5:15b - His blood is the provision for salvation. Rom. 3:25; Eph. 1:7 Conclusion: Because of God’s grace salvation is available to all- even me! Titus 2:11; 1bTim. 2:3-4
