Wonka - MOVIE REVIEW
from MOVIE Morning · host Gyan Chansrichawla
Hey everyone, what some are calling the cinematic family event of the holiday season - Wonka - has hit theaters. From the director of the two Paddington films comes a Willy Wonka prequel that (apparently) is meant to precede the events of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring Gene Wilder. I was interested in this movie based on the director alone, despite being a huge fan of the Roald Dahl story when I was younger. I went in hoping for a big and light-hearted fun time. Is that what I got? Find out in this review. Wonka: Directed by: Paul King Screenplay by: Simon Barnaby & Paul King Story by: Paul King Based on characters created by: Roald Dahl Produced by: Alexandra Derbyshire, David Herman, Luke Kelly Executive Producers: Cate Adams, Rosie Alison, Michael Siegel, Tim Wellspring Music by: Joby Talbot Production Design by: Nathan Crowley Cinematography by: Chung-hoon Chung Editing by: Mark Everson Casting by: Nina Gold Costume Design by: Linda Hemming Cast: Timothée Chalamet, Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant, Sally Hawkins, Matt Lucas, Mathew Boynton, Jim Carter, Tom Davis, Paterson Joseph Synopsis: Willy Wonka – chock-full of ideas and determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time – is proof that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you’re lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible.
