WORD GIFTS / The Gift of Teaching

We are deep into the "Word Gifts"—the gifts that function as the steering system for the church, clarifying God's nature and purposes. We've covered Leadership, Encouragement, and Pastoring. And today we are talking about the gift that often fuels all the others. We are talking about the gift of Teaching. And, to clear up misconceptions, this is different than preaching; while preaching often involves teaching, the spiritual gift of Teaching is much broader. Teaching is the ability to "unpack" the Scriptures. Think of the Bible as a suitcase packed tight with truth. The Teacher is the one who can open it up, lay everything out, and show you exactly what is in there and why it matters.
