Word of the Week – Aware

from Act ASAP · host Daniel Kilburn

The definition of aware is having or showing realization perception or knowledge to be aware of the danger or aware of the latest events. Those of you who are aware have built a disaster management plan to protect yourself your family and your loved ones. And you understand that situational awareness is at the very top level of remaining safe. The events of August 15 of this year in Los Angeles, the flash mob looting, unfortunately, might be a precursor of things to come. In my searching back in time trying to find other incidences such as that one. Several came up from November 2021, these flash mob lootings were on high-end retail establishments and jewelry stores. The disturbing fact is that the latest event happened at a local 7-11 store and the things that were stolen were cigarettes, lottery tickets, and probably some food and beer or wine. It is disheartening because this might not be the last time you see this happen. With the rising prices of food, gasoline, and housing , many people are being pushed to the edge intellectually, emotionally, and financially. The more emotional we become, the lower our intellect becomes. While reviewing the short video clip released by the LAPD Police Department find it interesting to see the observers on the outside who chose not to go in and be part of the activity seem to be pretty happy about what’s going on. I hate to say it; the odds are good that we will see more of this quite simply because it is being done now, and those who would think they need to do it now have permission to do so. Even a complacent man or woman will become aggressive when they are hungry. That becomes part of the problem right there. Many people have become complacent; they are comfortable with their lifestyle and how they live because they do not need to do anything about it. Much of the world has sunk to complacent, apathetic, and average. Are you a proactive mother or father living in an at-risk urban environment with a population base of several million? For so long, I have avoided fearmongering to try to get what I consider reasonably sane and intelligent people to do the right thing by putting disaster and emergency plans in place to protect themselves, their families, and loved ones. I think that is over simply because the society around us is forcing the fence-sitters. I’ll think about it or the naysayers to recognize that society is changing, and the change is coming fast. No, I don’t have a crystal ball, but it’s easy to see that even here in the United States, we will see food shortages. We will see more people evicted by foreign corporations, hedge funds, and big businesses who only look at the profit. Would you like to protect your family and loved ones? The best way to start is to put your food plan together, 14 days of food and water for your family and your loved ones. This is not a difficult task. NEWMORROW SESSIONS - A PodCast Series on the Future of Hospitality Mario C. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next. Mark Shaffer Philosopher Kings empowers next-gen professionals to think, speak, and act with knowledge, wisdom, and virtue.  Lum and Abner Old Time guoshibing The series was created by co-stars Chester Lauck (who played Columbus "Lum" Edwards) and Norris Goff (Abner Peabody). Lum always pronounced his own name as Ed'erds and was very annoyed if Abner or anyone brought up his full first name. The two characters performed as a double act, with Lum generally playing the straight man to Abner's attempts to break free from Lum's influence. As co-owners of the Jot 'em Down Store in the fictional town of Pine Ridge, Arkansas, the pair are constantly stumbling upon moneymaking ideas only to find themselves fleeced by nemesis Squire Skimp, before finally finding a way to redeem themselves. Lum and Abner played the hillbilly theme with deceptive cleverness. In addition to the title characters, Lauck also played Grandpappy Spears and Cedric Weehunt while Goff played Abner, Squire Skimp, Llewelyn "Mousey" Grey, Dick Huddleston, and most of the other characters.Lum and Abner, like most sitcoms of the era, had a live house band, in
