Word of the Week –Transition

from Act ASAP · host Daniel Kilburn

Being in transition can be beneficial if it is purposeful and with intent. Change is the one constant in life. And yet, we are often surprised when it comes. We as humans regularly desire something better, different, and not the way things are. But we fight tooth and nail to prevent anything from changing. Living in our own imaginary construct of reality is comforting. And we still want it to be different because we are not happy with the life the world has given us. And their lies the lie, we have been feeding ourselves for so many years. The life the world has given us is exactly the life we have asked for, whether we like it or not. And we can make a change. If you want to transition from who you are now, to who you want to be. Step up and do it. Become the leader in your own life and stop letting others lead you. It will not be easy or happen overnight. You will stumble and fall but get up and take one more step forward. You will only fail if you stop trying. I have decided to transition my life to something better. I could have stayed where I was, with a good job, comfortable living arrangements, and family to support me. If you are curious, I took the below picture during my drive out of Florida. I was at this location 15 or so years ago, and I remembered it distinctly. I chose to route my drive so I could take a picture of it. Follow That Dream. I know you have one. I challenge you to make your dreams come true. Pull out a notepad and write down 10 things you want to do, 10 things you want to have, and 10 things you want to be. They cannot be things that have already happened in your life. Be wild, go way outside the box, and dream big. You have nothing to lose except maybe the life you really do not want. You must be willing to give up who you are, to become who you want to be. Reach out to me, I will support you and your ventures to the best of my ability.  Do not ask for money. NEWMORROW SESSIONS - A PodCast Series on the Future of Hospitality Mario C. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next. Mark Shaffer Philosopher Kings empowers next-gen professionals to think, speak, and act with knowledge, wisdom, and virtue.  Lum and Abner Old Time guoshibing The series was created by co-stars Chester Lauck (who played Columbus "Lum" Edwards) and Norris Goff (Abner Peabody). Lum always pronounced his own name as Ed'erds and was very annoyed if Abner or anyone brought up his full first name. The two characters performed as a double act, with Lum generally playing the straight man to Abner's attempts to break free from Lum's influence. As co-owners of the Jot 'em Down Store in the fictional town of Pine Ridge, Arkansas, the pair are constantly stumbling upon moneymaking ideas only to find themselves fleeced by nemesis Squire Skimp, before finally finding a way to redeem themselves. Lum and Abner played the hillbilly theme with deceptive cleverness. In addition to the title characters, Lauck also played Grandpappy Spears and Cedric Weehunt while Goff played Abner, Squire Skimp, Llewelyn "Mousey" Grey, Dick Huddleston, and most of the other characters.Lum and Abner, like most sitcoms of the era, had a live house band, in
