Work To Find The Funny With Published Writer, TJ Condon

from The Caregiver Cup Podcast · host Cathy VandenHeuvel

Send Cathy a text:)I am very excited to share an interview I had recently with TJ Condon who has a remarkable story.  She was a caregiver to her in-laws, first, then to her husband through his liver transplant and now to her father with bladder cancer.   She also had her own diagnosis of thyroid cancer.  During all of this, she continued working full-time and wrote the book, Some Assembly Required,  A True Story Of Love And Organ Transplants.  I bought the book and immediately found attachment.  I have highlighted so many things and tabs everywhere since TJ words, stories and shear humor, is helping me think differently about caregiving.  TJ Condon is a marketing executive and publish writer. She is a passionate advocate for organ donation, is an active volunteer for NJ Sharing Network (Donate Life America affiliate) and has served as a board member for a number of non-profit organizations.  TJ holds a Master of Communication and Information Studies degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelors of Arts in English from Dickinson College. The interview had so many good pieces from how her caregiving story started with her husband Jim, to how she found humor in the little things to our discussions on challenges and asking for help.   Here are a few of TJ words that I want to you to listen to: “Things will be terrible before they’re great”   “The sicker they get the small your life gets” “Work to find the funny”More information about TJ Condon:Meet the Author (2 minutes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHHfN77y8_wSome Assembly Required Book on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Some-Assembly-Required-Organ-Transplant-ebook/dp/B094RJ6BN5A Transplant Tale: https://alumni.rutgers.edu/stay-connected/alumni-news-and-stories/a-transplantAuthor of Some Assembly Required: A True Story of Love and Organ Transplants, available now on Amazon.
