Working from home or in the office: Which is better for team building?

from LinkedIn SUPREMACY on the GO · host Tilly Davies

What do you think? Talking about work-from-home, hybrid, or work in an office, I was asked the question which is best? Now, having worked in all 3 models I guess my experience could be helpful. I started my business, MarketingCX in 2015, while living in a very small remote town, Pringle Bay in the Western Cape. At that time having an office and finding the team I needed close-by was just not an option. So, I opted for the work-from-home model. I found my team, but they were all living all over South Africa – miles away from where I lived. For years, we worked remotely building the business as a team on Zoom. Some of my team members joined me and left without me ever meeting them in person. 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭! When I moved to Hermanus in 2018, I started looking at the hybrid model and some of the team members did office work some days of the week. 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭! I moved back to Johannesburg towards the end of 2019. Covid came and covid left and I continued building and running the business, remotely, successfully. Last year, in 2022, I started the internships and was forced to opt for the work in an office daily model. Slowly we faced out the work-from-home and hybrid models. As a team we could now do brainstorming, planning, and support each other face-to-face every day. There is something to be said about human interactions and socialisation. Now, MarketingCX, is a business working from an office where we as a team stand as a force, supporting each other daily. 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳! What is your experience? Do share in the comments…
