The World Athletics Ultimate Championship kicks off in Budapest as the grand finale of track and field, featuring a $10 million prize pool and the planet’s top athletes—Olympic and world champions, Diamond League stars—all competing for ultimate glory. With spots earned purely by performance, not country quotas, it’s the ultimate playoff showdown across 65 federations. Expect fireworks from legends like Mondo Duplantis, Ja’Kobe Tharp, Masai Russell, Keely Hodgkinson, and Gabby Thomas, while Irish stars Mark English, Rhasidat Adeleke, and Sharlene Mawdsley (returning from injury) aim to shine. Though stars like Noah Lyles and Tara Davis-Woodhall sit out due to injury or accident, the three-night event promises high-stakes finals and unforgettable moments as the first-ever Ultimate Champions are crowned.
