World Cup Update June 19th, 2026

On a 73-degree day at Seattle Stadium in the city of Seattle, Washington, the United States Men’s National Team punched their ticket to the round of 32 with a two to nothing victory over Australia. The first point for the United States came in the 11th minute of the first half when Australia’s Cameron Burgess accidentally kicked the ball into his own net crediting him with an own goal giving the US a one to nothing lead. Later in the first half, at the 43rd minute USA’s Alex Freeman scored a goal, but it would not count after the United States was called for an offside. However, after a replay challenge it was confirmed that Freeman was not offside and the call was overturned giving Freeman the goal and the United States a two to nothing lead and the victory. With the United States’ win over Australia, they move on to the round of 32 which is the knockout stage.
