Boston Stadium in the city of Foxboro, Massachusetts was the setting for Paraguay and Germany in a game in the knockout stage that will be talked about for a long time. In the 42nd minute of the first half, Paraguay got on the board first with a goal from Julio Enciso giving Paraguay a one to nothing lead. In the 54th minute of the second half, Germany got a goal from Kai Havertz tying the game at one. The remainder of the second half saw both teams jockeying for position to score a goal. Just before the end of regulation, Germany scored a goal but would have it taken away after a replay challenge showed interference sending the game into overtime tied at one. After two grueling overtimes, the game would be decided in penalty kicks. Paraguay’s Jose Canale made the final goal giving Paraguay the win in penalty kicks four to three.
