World Health Organization Launches Major International Oral Health Policy Initiative For People With Disabilities

from Clare FM · host Clare FM

On Thursday's Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was talking about an issue that affects hundreds of thousands of people in Ireland: access to dental care for people with disabilities. Too often, routine dental problems can become serious and painful because appropriate care isn’t available when it’s needed.  The World Health Organization has launched a major international oral health initiative focused on people with disabilities, here in Dublin.  Joining Alan was Dr. Siobhan Stapleton, Specialist in Special Care Dentistry at Dublin Dental University Hospital and St James’s Hospital, to discuss the challenges people face and what needs to change.
