The World Health Organisation has declared the 3rd of March every year “World Hearing Day”. The day is used to commemorate people with hearing impairment and to raise awareness on and about induced hearing loss as well as measure to prevent it. Now according to the WHO over 5% of the world's population has disabling hearing loss, with the majority of people with disabling hearing loss living in low- and middle-income countries. A further approximately one third of people over 65 years of age are affected by disabling hearing loss.
