World Mental Health Day

from African Dialogue · host Channel Africa

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Every forty seconds, someone loses their life to suicide. This as the world observed Mental Health Day on Thursday. This year’s theme is suicide prevention. The South African Depression and Anxiety Group says one in six South Africans suffer from anxiety, depression or substance-use problems (and this does not include more serious conditions such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia). Charlene Sunkel CEO at the Global Mental Health Peer Network now joins me in studio to tell us more about her journey and living with schizophrenia.
