This episode centers on the correspondence from an U.S. Army Captain deployed in Germany to his wife in Three Oaks, Michigan. We had roast chicken for dinner today.  Sure was good.  Geo and I ate all we could.  Then at three this afternoon we ate baked potatoes.  Our stove in the living room has an oven, so it is no job to bake them at all.  Well by supper time neither of us could eat.  And it is about nine o’clock now, we still aren’t hungry. This afternoon I saw Major Brown about the provisional battery they are forming.  All the batteries except HQ are coming to my town and I’m to command this battery.  In it will be 28 jeeps, 28 6x6, and 9 ¾ ton trucks.  About ten times too much transportation.  Well that is my job for tomorrow.  So I’ll be quite busy again. Ghosts of Piccadilly, The by G. S. Street (1867 - 1936) LibriVox Nothing spooky or supernatural, but a very personal gathering of gossip, letters, and fragments of biography of famous people who have lived in Piccadilly (in London, England) ... and of some of the buildings, now long gone."If any part of any city deserves a book to itself, it is Piccadilly. We shall stand before some house in the hours when the traffic is stilled, and I shall tell of its history, of the men and women who dwelt there, and talked and loved and gambled and lived and died. I shall follow the lines of my temperament and tastes rather than those of completeness and impartiality: it is likely that I shall be voluble about Byron and reticent about Macaulay."(From the preface) Sincerely, Us The Girls Join the conversation with the Sincerely, Us Podcast where Leslie, Cassy, Sarah, Gelly and Libby (yes, you counted right, five hosts!) chat about topics from listener letters.
