Good morning. I am very excited to be with you and yes to speak on a subject that I am so passionate about But I don't know if I need to speak to you now. We're here for worship We're gonna be speaking about worship today, but oh my dear. Well, we just experienced.
Thank you Lord. Amen Chris Kristin Adam. Thank you so much for meeting us. Thank you.
If you don't know these people they are excellent They're wonderful worship leaders, but even better people I also want to say that to take this moment and say that I am So humbled and honored to be a part of the worship ministry and I know I speak on behalf of all of us in the worship industry that Thank you for letting us lead you. Thank you for responding Thank you for all that you do just to go deeper with God when we're we're shipping you worshiping with you And it is so easy to lead you. Let me say that because y'all are ready. Y'all come expect it is such a blessing to us It encourages us.
Yeah, so what we're gonna talk about today is worship We're in the middle of a teaching series called spiritual gym and we've already had three weeks And if you haven't caught those I would encourage you go back and look at those because we look at some very foundational teachings About fasting and prayer and reading the word of God pretty foundational when it comes to spiritual disciplines today I'm gonna be speaking about worship and I'm gonna jump right in We're gonna look at our central verses from first Timothy 4 7 and that reads train yourself to be godly We're physical training is of some value But godliness has value for all things holding promise for both the present life and the life to come So it's the apostle Paul writing a letter to his padawan his one of his disciples Timothy and the main emphasis of that is train Yourself to be godly train ourselves up in godliness And so each week we've been unpacking one spiritual discipline just to see what we can get out of it to further our relationships with Christ To further our our Sanctification process and again if you haven't caught these please go back and look at these Let me some messages. We have them on our website online on the app. So we're gonna jump right in We're gonna turn in our Bible to Revelation chapter 4 and 5. I'm gonna be reading a couple of large chunks So hang in with me in the middle of chapter 4 verse 6 It says in the center around the throne were four living creatures and they were covered with eyes in the front and back The first living creature was like a lion the second like an ox the third had a face of a man And the fourth was like a flying eagle each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around Even under its wings day and night they never stopped saying holy holy holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come Whenever the living creatures give glory honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives forever and ever the 24 elders fall Down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever They lay their crowns before the throne and say you are worthy Oh Lord and God to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things and buy your will they were created and have their being So I'm gonna jump in the middle of chapter 5 we continue it says then I saw a lamb looking as if it had been slain Standing at the center of the throne is circled by the four living creatures and the elders the lamb had seven horns and seven eyes Which are the seven spirits of God sit out to all the earth He went and he took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne and when he had taken it the four living creatures and the 24 Elders fell down before the lamb each one had a harp and they were holding gold and bowls full of incense Which are the prayers of God's people and they sang a new song saying you are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals Because you are slain and with your blood you purchase men for God persons of every tribe and language and people and nation You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God and they will reign on the earth Then I looked and I heard the voice of many angels numbering thousands upon thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders and allowed voice They were saying worthy is the lamb who was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise Amen So in this this is the apostle John he's getting a vision from God and he's actually given a glimpse It opens the door into what's called the throne room of heaven the scene in heaven This is actually what is happening in the very throne room of God right now, and it's just a huge worship scene I mean you see this there's a throne in the center with God on it.
There's another 24 24 thrones around with these elders There's these amazing flying creatures all around and then you zoom out even more and it says ten thousand times ten thousand angels That's a hundred million to start What a scene of worship what a thing for us to aspire to when we come together and worship God amen So today we'll be unpacking quite a bit the spiritual discipline of worship guys bless this church I'll say this again about our worship ministry with many talented musicians talented people talented worship leaders and he's powerfully bringing up the next generation of worship leaders from our youth amen Were you here last week? Oh my dear God? Thank you He showed up in his power and these kids just gave us a great example of what it is to just love God with everything This is not common you saw my thunder last week Ryan when you said this is not common for us to have this I'm like I was gonna say that So we're very blessed now before we get into the meat of what I'm gonna speak about today I know that everything I read about in revelations and what we had this morning's brings together corporate worship that sometimes This is a I would say a controversial topic, but I've had teachings Or maybe arguments over the years that someone may say well what you do on Sunday when you worship God and sing songs down That's not really worship. It's more important what you do then after you leave on Sundays in your own personal life That you have your own personal in your Bible studying your prayer time that you worship God There's something that you put into your life because you just do it on Sundays and then go out the rest of your week You just kind of forget all about that and then further it's been well.
It's not that It's this your whole life is worship right that that the other two things corporate and personal worship they can be You just sing to God. Yeah, yeah, but if you do nothing from that it has to affect your life What we do is to render to God in our life like that is our true worship and I'm going well I can't argue with any of that, you know, so which is it? Is it a? Be see corporate personal whole life worship.
Yeah, some of you are ahead of me You see that the space at the bottom my favorite multiple choice answer. It is D all of the above Thank you. It's all of it. And so we're gonna unpack today to show you that like these all flow They're all part of the same system.
Amen. So if I were to make a quick gym analogy about this This is a type of super set you take three exercises you do them back to back real quick and with little or no rest in between And you're building muscle whatever the exercise are but at the same time you're building that endurance with your heart and you do the cycle over and over and over So in some ways, thank you that like this is a full cycle worship whole life worship is a full cycle worship So let's dig right in number one the first aspect of it. Let me talk about three aspects is that we worship with all that we are I Think we did that this morning. Thank you.
I think it was Kristen when you when you shared I was like oh She's still in my thunder That's actually like that this morning's worship service had so many elements of what we're gonna be going over today So thank you God we worship with all that we are and so I looked it around for a number of definitions for worship And they all kind of said the same thing but I like this one Let's read it together. It says it's a profound whole life response of reverence love and adoration for someone or something deemed sacred So knit it into the fabric of what worship means is that it demands everything it consumes everything if it doesn't consume everything Then it's not worship. It's some other less or form of respect or adoration. Are you with me on that?
So let's start with a little bit reverse in Luke 10 27 It says you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind So this is Jesus responding to a question What is the greatest commandment and he says love the Lord with all your heart and with this and with this and with this and with Everything that we can think of that is us love God with that We worship with all that we are and so to think about that even deeper What what is all that we are what is comprised of who we are and this next verse is his first thessalonians 5 23 Says now may the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete without blame at the Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ So this verse is where we get I understand we get the main one the main teachings of the Bible that we are a three part Be that we have our spirit we have our soul and our body and maybe our body is the most obvious right? I can touch it. I can feel it It's we're made of matter we interact with the material world through our five senses and then a little deeper is our soul Some people say interchangeably that's our will That that's where our psyche is where we make decisions where our personality is and then deeper than that our spirit This is the place where we interact and sense God in the supernatural where we interact with God and we sense him in the supernatural Which is distinctly different from the other two parts of us so in another moment We're gonna read another expert expert from John chapter 4 and what this is it's a it's a story of Jesus Speaking of the woman at the well the Samaritan woman and so he goes up to any house for a drink of water And it kind of sparks this lively conversation She's asking questions and it culminates to where she says I perceive that you are a prophet So let me ask you this question where should we worship? You know that the Jews say we should be in Jerusalem That's what we should worship with the temple is now but my people the Samaritans We believe we should worship here and they were in a place near the town of Shechem if you remember that from possessing what she was I think they're on Mount Gerasim but different place my people think this the Jews think this which is correct Thank God that we live in the new covenant today We know that we have the Holy Spirit inside of us we saying about the veil being torn and we have direct access to God And so Jesus is answer he's about to flip the script on her I guess this verse has been up there for a bit so you can see it so verse 23 it says but an hour is coming and is now when true worshipers Will worship the Father in spirit and truth for such people the Father seeks to be his worshipers God is spirit and those who worship him must Worship in spirit and truth There's a small word.
I want to point out first in there. It's the word must And that implies requirement So said another way if we are trying to worship God from any other part of ourselves or any other place that does not meet the definition of True worship You know we are not falling under the type the category of people that the Father is seeking So we worship God from our spirit or in our spirit and then our soul is caught in the middle It is a decision to make you know moment by moment and this goes on in our life Am I gonna listen to God in my spirit or am I going to bow down to all this these signals and signs and information? I'm getting from my body to the outside world and of course the key is that we choose to allow the spirit to lead And so when we do that We're surrender to God in our spirit and that's connected to our soul connected to our body And then our then our body becomes this our whole whole being is something that God can use to give worship to himself And so said another way It's up here when we surrender to God in our spirit our soul and body will fall into natural alignment And we will worship in spirit and truth to kind of bring in that second half of that verse And so there's more to unpack of what truth is but a big part of it Is that there's an alignment between all three parts of our being that we're all bowed down to God in our spirit? That is truth So what does that look like?
What could that look like if we're? Worshiping God and something in our any touches us in some of our spirit leaps. I might leap and my hands come out naturally If you want to know we don't have time to go today But there's this whole other teaching if you want some more information about places in the Bible that teaches how we worship and honor God with our bodies During worship come and talk to me we'll get some information ultimately or talk to Pastor Ryan He has a breakdown of all the verses that talk about different worship postures body postures And it's not so different than what we've already seen today raising our hands clapping to God bowing down before him Singing shouting to the Lord so many verses in the Bible that demonstrate that to us and many of them are written as Commandments So there may be a section of us in here a few of us in here that I lost you You might say okay What do you say in Stevie like that if I am truly surrender to God in my spirit and he has control of all of me Then I will just then I will naturally raise my hands cry out to him sing louder and my body will move all over the place And I'm like well, yes, I am saying that I am saying and what I want to do is I will hopefully I can give you a little bit of hope because not just a few years ago Myself, this is where I sat five or six years ago. I was of the opinion that no no I can be fully surrender to God in my heart and I'm having this fine connection with him And we are good and I don't have to raise my hands.
Don't tell me what that's not what I can do I'm still fully surrender to God in my heart Well, I would say that so far what we've uncovered the unpacked today is kind of speaking against that But I want to offer some hope so a little bit from my own story about 10 years ago God called me to a deeper a deeper calling in worship So I played bass, sang some backup and he said I don't want you to treat this more like a hobby or an extra thing you do outside of your life I want you to surrender to this and this is a calling and from there I immersed in myself I was just devouring so many resources to learn to be a better worship leader to be a better worship team member I was trying to get better at playing my bass upgraded all my stuff I was trying to think also like Lord what's my weekly rhythm used me to be like I want to prepare well practice well and be good But how do I prepare spiritually each week to leave people and so at the same time I My my personal walk with God was also flourishing my my Bible study time for becoming deeper and deeper and something happened I began to feel God's presence more Every time I worshiped on my own and every time I worship in service Every time I was reading my Bible or sometimes when I'm home I've got my acoustic guitar and I'm worshiping God And it started to create this conflict within me because I was learning that in those times even when I was just singing a church that I would feel God's spirit and he would speak to me and I'm telling you for me When I feel God move within me and when he just says hello, you know, I'm here There's enough energy in my body that something's got to happen I'm telling he speaks and he lets me know that I'm there when he convicts me of something you need to confess this You need to stop this and start doing that that there's always this like whoa It has a physical emanation physical result in my body Yes, and so at first I was I was honestly I was just scared I think I look back at the version of me that thought I don't have to raise my hands and deep down I knew that I wanted that to be true, but I was probably wrong. I was just hesitant And this is the age old thing of like, you know, if I raise my hands like, oh, what's everybody thinking about me? Everybody's looking at me. Oh, do I look dumb?
Am I doing it right? I mean, there's this this internal thoughts. That's where I was a lot God led me on this journey over the last few years And there are many stops on the way and to try to summarize it was Honestly when I met my bride was a big thing God was already drawing me just like as I experienced his spirit more and more He was like say come and see come and see more come and see more and When I started to date Rose when I would go to church with her Well, I went to a conservative I went to a bad dischurch and she was Pentecostal and so early on I knew something was going to give Right it was either gonna be her or me or this relationship Not gonna work, but thank you Lord. You are already making my ground fertile He was already speaking to me in the Holy Spirit.
So those are my first experiences when I would go to church with her That would see people like lively worship and it was exciting and for a while. I was kind of an onlooker I was like a person's like this is great. Oh, I was still like oh Yeah, I was and I literally I did have to get through some of those just things I was making up in my head and so sadly I'm sad to admit to you that I finally had to go okay I'm doing it and the first times were absolutely just uncomfortable And but then it got easier and easier and easier and I'm telling you today from where I sit It is the natural way that I worship God and I realize oh I was made this way the whole time It was just my brain gets in the way That's the thing that's in between the spirit and the body is that think are up here. It makes things complicated So the last thing I'll point out is that there was a time before I even got to naturally seeing the guy and It just became very normal for me to have a posture that aligns with that that I did feel God's spirit and it felt good And but I would just grab the seat in front of me Thank you, Lord.
I just breathe and always highlighted something that he was speaking to me I would follow up on that but I was just I did not want to move my body I'm so self-conscious until one day I was watching is a movie or TV show watching TV and it was showing this person who was addicted to drugs And it showed that they were withdrawing they were very shaking they were you tell they were completely uncomfortable I want to jump out of their own skin type stuff. They were just wanting the next hit and they in this show they got it It was an injectable type drug and you see this as soon as this this substance hit their bloodstream Their whole body relax their face relax It looks and they were just enjoying every bit of that hit and I felt this finger right in my chest and God said That is you when I speak to you and you keep all the glory for yourself And it was still months until I was able to be Bold enough because the natural out for him when he speaks to me to go yes, Lord. It's yours. It's your glory Yes, thank you God for speaking to me.
Yes, I will do that the answer is yeah And so now when I worship it is just so Natural and correct when we sing something like many things only sing this morning, but we go maybe we're singing lamb of God anointed one Who was and is and is to come see it on the throne above? Holy, holy How can you not sing something like that and just open up to God and think about that throne room scene in heaven that we get to Participate in that here on earth that is a little off my notes It's in there if any of that speaks to you if you're on a similar journey Anywhere in there help this is an encouragement to you. Hopefully the Holy Spirit is saying come and see come and see So what do you start? So maybe that means you come in here and you're having a hard time and just like well I'm gonna battle back these thoughts in my head.
I'm gonna say Lord close my eyes I'll start here whatever that is. I'm gonna close my eyes. I'm gonna worship you just gonna focus on you I'm gonna try block everybody else out and that's good because at the end of the day you have an audience of one We have an audience of one So or maybe you're not familiar with the songs We're gonna have the words up here on the screen for you and you don't know any songs whatever But like look at the screen just you can read the words off the screen you can look at them and then it's a concept like what they're saying I guarantee you that these words the way we choose what to sing what to put on your lips It is from the word of God if not direct scripture itself. These are profound truths about God Or even more so I mean look at this beautiful place I was natural light coming in you can look up through the sky right there You can see any me just it's just so open look at those sky triangles If you want to know a story about that just talk to any of the youth worship team They'll tell you a cool story about the sky triangles.
I won't tell it all right The last thing I mentioned is We're here this morning for worship like if you stopped and you looked around Did you see all the people who were just passionately worshiping God and giving him everything? This is a safe place wherever you are to learn to train nobody's looking at you We're all going to encourage you we all want to go deeper into God's presence together amen We want to worship God with all that we are the second aspect we worship God we worship all the time Of course if we're gonna if it consumes everything if we're supposed to do everything It's all of our life all the time worship is not only for Sundays It's not only when life is going well. I would say part of the sanctification of this process My whole life is that I'm always learning that every moment every interaction every situation is an opportunity for worship Let's read in Romans chapter 12 verse 1 says therefore I urge you urge you brothers and sisters in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice Holy and pleasing to God. This is your true and proper worship.
So the term in their living sacrifice. That's kind of a paradox There's something that sacrificed it dies We're called to be living sacrifice. We know that that means we're sacrificing our lives We're dying to self to live to Christ. Amen We're dying to our own will to live to the will that what God has for our lives and that we're created for that anyway And so then in other words our spiritual act of worship other versions I think it's the NIV might say that instead of your true and proper worship says your spiritual act of worship that this calls for the absolute surrender of our entire life The next thing I want to look at this is a quote from a older worship leader from the 90s name Lamar Bushman He says don't let your life don't let life affect your worship let your worship affect life So as far as we apply this to our lives, you know, it's like the first half is what kind of a Victim to life we try to worship and struggle with it to worship God and get through it This is saying we need to be set of reactive proactive in the way that we approach worship the way that we apply this In with that you might be thinking well, then how does worship affect life?
You know a second half says let your worship affect life So in this sense, I guess he has to be talking about the corporate and the personal aspects of worship How does that me singing to God? I love you Lord? I love you How does that equal then going and living as surrendered life to him and I would propose this that it is a Model and a microcosm of how we surrender to him what I've learned in my personal and in times when I worship with you And I'm trying to open up my spirit to God and sense of God. Where are you?
I want to see you today and that when I feel his touch I know I confirm it's him and he tells me something and I respond So I come to worship. I feel his presence. He tells me something. I confirm clearly what he says and I respond hopefully with yes And so when we do that in our personal time that we're trying to imagine and encourage this needs to be something that you're getting alone You're getting quiet you kind of put in there all these distractions out of the way to focus on God and everything about what we do in corporate worship here We the songs we're giving you that we're giving you the words just right there So if you get off a little bit you've got the words there that we're just trying to give you a way to focus on God It's a world.
I'm learning this process over and over and over like hearing God What he says and applying it to my lives and those two first things are in a controlled environment So when we get out into the wild of our lives with all the other voices that are telling us what to do Then we can go. Okay. Where are you? There you are there's your voice.
Yes. Yes, I know what to do and we can do this stuff in the wild Isn't that crazy? So the next thing we want to talk about is have you ever seen the movie karate kid? I'm talking about the original one 1984 and so that the main character Daniel when he comes to his first day of training I mean he wants to get training in karate because he's getting bullied on and so he comes in he meets his sensei Mr.
Miyagi he comes to his house. He's all right. I'm ready to train and what happens? You know the movie he just gives them all these chores to do he has a wash his car wax his car paint his house paint his fence all day long And this man is very particular.
He says I want you to wax like this wax on wax off probably the most right Famous line from there all day long At the end of the day it's nighttime when mr. Miyagi leaves for most of the day comes back home and as soon as he does Daniel's like what is going on? I thought you were gonna teach me about karate. I'll tell you I would be showing you this clip But there's a lot more bad words in that movie than I recall Maybe I saw it made for TV or something, but some you're gonna get the Stevie paraphrase of this and he's complaining to him You know, we're not you just made me get free labors all you've gotten out of me This is not even training and finally mr.
Miyagi confronts him. So show me show me wax on wax off and he kind of does it No show me wax on he does it doesn't real seriously and mr. Miyagi is perfecting his technique And he says show me sand the floor show me paint the fence and all of a sudden after he's done all this and mr. Miyagi yells at him He says wax on he throws a punch at him and Daniel blocks it Oh, you know, and so then he starts yelling at me throw He's throwing this barrage of punches at him yelling these these commands at him wax on wax off sand the floor and he's just The camera zooms in on Daniel's face He has this moment where his eyes light up and he gets it at the whole time He actually is being trained to defend against the attack of an enemy He is being trained to defend against the attack of the enemy.
Do you understand? We're not talking about karate anymore Let's dig a little deeper in Psalm 8 verse 2 it says out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength because of your enemies that you may silence the enemy and the avenger So this is a song where David is just praising God for his excellent creation and also saying I don't know why God You chose man to be over that and so he used this contrast of kind of the weakest version of a human the nursing infant Completely dependent why have you chosen us to be your ordained strength? Why do you speak to us and in what end what to what result to silence the enemy? So the reason I bring this up is because this verse we're looking at a second here This verse is quoted by Jesus in the New Testament in the book of Matthew So just days before he goes to the cross and it goes across He comes into the town of Jerusalem for the Passover and it's called the triumphal entry He rides the donkey and everybody's praising him They think he's coming into town overthrow the government become their king and then he spins a series of two three four Days in the temple and of course the big one where people go like oh, he's different than we thought he goes and he flips the tables Just it just drives them out.
See that it's been made into a marketplace And so in a different day. It's where we're gonna we're gonna lead in is that God is Jesus is there Healing people the lame and the sick and off to the side There's these group of kids and they're chanting out They're saying hosanna hosanna to the son of David and at this point the chief priest in there They had enough they were just like they were living like no They can't front Jesus and they say do you hear what these kids are saying? They say make them stop they're claiming that you're God you're the Messiah like Correct this once and for all so they say you hear what they're saying It's we'll pick up here in verse 16 the second half Jesus responds to them and he says yes Have you never read out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants you have perfected praise? So Jesus quotes to them Psalm 8 verse 2 or does he right?
Do we see the difference here to the next slide? It's appeared it appears that he's changed two words Did Jesus misquote the word of God? Well, no, he is the word of God amen. I believe he's giving us an expanded meaning an application to what's going on here Of course in that situation he just confirmed.
Yes, these kids what they're saying is perfected praise like they're what they're saying is true I am God And no doubt these scholars these these chief priests They knew he was quoting from Psalm 8 to and that is there to silence the enemy and he kind of knew who he was insinuating might be the enemy in this situation But if these two terms can be interchangeable for say God if Jesus interchange them that our perfected praise is an ordained strength And we can say that our praises of strength that silences the enemy you ever say that one before let praise be the weapon that silences the enemy It is a weapon against the devil So how silent do you want the devil to be in your life? So let us encourage I want to encourage us all that if the Holy Spirit is appealing to you today That we need to be the type of worshiper that the Father is seeking the type of worshiper that is we are worshiping in spirit and truth And that we have a wonderful opportunity especially when we come here together to worship God to learn together to go deeper and deeper together We just keep worshiping and worshiping every time we come so and we can do that we worship with all that we are and we worship all the time And that leads us to our third aspect we worship all together We worship all together and so this is the corporate aspect of worship But honestly we've already highlighted a lot of this in what we've covered so far What I want to read is I'm gonna start in Colossians 3 16 It says let the word of Christ dwell in you richly teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom singing songs and hymns and spiritual songs With thankfulness in your hearts to God and then in Hebrews 10 24 through 25 and let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds Not giving up meeting together. These are a couple of the main verses that I guess would be apologetics Basically for why we're here today why the new testament church all across this country and all across the world are meeting right here together We start with singing encouraging each other we spur each other on the good works and then we're never supposed to stop meeting together So I would say a little note here that we meet on Sundays and then on Wednesdays We meet in our small groups our life groups we get together that way That's just a jumping off point for the type of life that God wants us to live together that Jesus wants us to have together to demonstrate Let's just get our juices flowing for our relationships and on that point of our relationships I want to talk about unity for us to worship God and for him to get all the glory that he deserves we must be unified Yes, I kind of like that unity is this thing that if we can we come together and I see all your wonderful faces I know so many of you and I love you all so much And I love been jumping into worship and I've honored privilege many many weeks like here watching you respond to God and then getting to live Life with you throughout the week. It is such a blessing and so our praise represents that when we come out on Sunday morning I feel like that's just a celebration of what's God's doing in our life and the life of our church and how we are agreeing in unity together How to build his kingdom where he's playing us here, but at the same time These types of services and us meeting together if we are not in unity It will expose that if we're really truthful with ourselves in our hearts I don't know if you've ever walked in here and you see somebody that you may not be correct with you go Do you just kind of avoid them?
I don't talk to them today. I'm gonna walk another other side That will rob God of his praise that will rob God of his glory So first one to read in Matthew 5 23 and 24 It says therefore if you're offering your gift at the altar and remember there that your brother or sister has something against you Leave your gift there in front of the altar first go and be reconciled to them then come and offer your gift It is a prerequisite for true worship that we are in unity with each other That's why I love why our church first and foremost we have the worship. We have the relationship principles that we teach Regularly we harp on them regularly. Let me encourage you today if you are not right with someone in this room someone in this family of God Get it right approach them today.
We need to vigorously guard our unity protect our unity go restore our unity Yes, and maybe well, there's somebody in this thing, but it's not a big thing You got something you're kind of maybe even self-denial about somebody that I'm not completely right with can I encourage us that we are like Vigorously brutally honest with ourselves with this that we are truthfully brutally honest with ourselves if I'm not right with someone I'm gonna make it right And if it honestly there's this whole there's such a support group if you need help you go to any one of our pastors Definitely the Bible says you need to go to that person first you make it right pray and go and talk to that person and restore that relationship That's what it says here. It says that reconcile be reconciled to them If it doesn't work with that our pastors would love to help you out to restore unity the second verse Psalm 133 You can read the whole thing just three short verses. It's a short chapter I'm just taking from the kind of the punch from the first verse in the last verse We're gonna read it says how good and pleasant it is when God's people people live together in unity So conversely when we are unified right how how pleasant it is when we live together that unity and the result of that inverse Three says for there the Lord bestows his blessing and another version says there he commands his blessing But honestly to take apart the word bestow a little bit this has a connotation of we are Is a person who has power and is is Confidently entrusting that to someone who has found worthy And so I think Lord Please let let us as your people be found worthy to be blessed so that we can be a blessing and we want God to conflict Be able to say that is a people who is unified and I can bless them I can I can confidently grow my kingdom to them I can give them everything that they need because they are going to use it for my glory Lord, please let us be that way This is why we meet together while we worship together encourage each other and then of course when we're worshipping in this place Together we're trying to bring heaven down to earth. We want to worship in a way that we are participating in that throne room Scene and we're gonna pick up there the last verse.
We'll look at Revelation 5 13 to 14 We hadn't finished that section. I don't know if you knew that That's where we pick up where we left off and every created thing that which is in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea And all things in them I heard saying to him who sits on the throne and unto the lamb be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever and the Four living creatures kept saying amen and the elders fell fell down and worshiped So my Bible most Bible scholars kind of their agreement here that they believe these last two verses are in the future after the second coming of Christ You see how it reads there in the first because it's everything every created thing which is in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea So literally if we can apply the spiritual discipline This this cycle of worship to our lives throughout our entire lives and we come in here and every Sunday when we worship together That is just a wonderful Praise to what God is doing among our church and we give them all this glory and then when this life ends We step right into eternity into that throne room scene. We're just worshipping God. Let's can I encourage us to aspire to that amen And now I'm so excited.
I've been waiting to show you this the whole time I want to show you a video real quick Dear that girl is precious. Can we watch it one more time? To my bride Thank you. Thank you for teaching our children the Bible filling our house with scripture filling our home with wonderful worship music Thank you.
So what are we gonna do with all this? What do we learn today? How are we gonna apply this? We're not gonna bring the band back up here and have a final song and worship and sing as loud as we can after a teaching about worship I would encourage that we ponder this teaching because we're gonna go over it again in our life groups this week And if you need to listen to it a couple more times Let's close our eyes for a second If God has told you anything today or maybe we need to approach God with this question Is there anything about my worship to you Lord that needs to change?
Is it my passion my heart? Is there a sin issue I need to deal with once and for all in my personal worship time or on Sundays? Do I come to you with gratitude in my heart? Do I come to you with a child like faith or a confidence or expectation that you will meet me?
Lord, do I come with the correct reverence fear and awe as I enter your holy presence? Lord, do you need to teach me to be ready and willing and joyful if you ask me to raise my hands to cry out to you To raise my hand for help to follow my needs before you When you speak to me clearly Lord am I ready to say yes and once he reveals those things to you I encourage that we just we answer with saying Lord you have my yes I will take action to give you the glory and honor that you deserve in my personal worship when I worship with the body of Christ and In my entire life. Amen. Thank you for being with us today.
If you need any prayer There will be leaders up here to pray with you. Thank you. Have a wonderful day
