Worship - Contentment
from The Rock Church of Fenton Sermons
Last week we discussed how “worship,” as the Bible teaches, is sacrifice. Sacrifice is obedience and therefore, obedience is what worship is. Ultimately, we are obedient to the Word of God when we sacrifice our own will for God’s will to be done in our lives. As Christ followers, many of us would say that we are living sacrifices. We may even say that we would follow Jesus even to death, just like Peter did, but then just like Peter did moments later, we will curse him through our actions, and follow our fleshly will rather than God’s will. Why do we make this mistake again and again? Because we are not content with God’s will happening in our lives. We decide that we’d rather have something else.Today we examine what true biblical contentment with the God’s will looks like. We do this through a look at the 4 soils parable and examining the lives of both Paul aJesus.ScripturesRomans 12:1-2Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, Luke 8:1-15—4 SoilsPhilippians 4:4-20Hebrews 12:1-21 Peter 5:8Matthew 26:36-461 Corinthians 10:3-6, 2 Timothy 2:22
