Worst night out for IBS...

from Heather's IBS Newsletter - Help for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. · host Heather Van Vorous

Worst night out for IBS...It's terrible!Going out and about sometimes can be a little scary with IBS. What if you have an attack away from home? What if you can’t find a bathroom? Out on a date? Those fears can become overwhelming.Yesterday I covered my best IBS date night!Today, it’s my worst:It’s Friday, I’m already tired, didn’t sleep well last night, and I’ve had a rough week. It’s been such a crazy day I haven’t eaten enough or eaten well. Now I’m starving. The date starts too late, and will run late into the night as well. I forget to take my Tummy Tamers capsules before I leave the house.I dressed up but now I’m uncomfortable, these clothes are tight and hot and the waistband is cinching me. I’m wearing heels and my feet already hurt.We head out to a noisy, crowded place and people are smoking all around me.There’s nothing to drink but beer or soda pop. The only food at this place is all deep fried, or red meat, or has melted cheese all over it.It’s too hot in here and there is no fresh air. Service is really slow and now we’re running late for the movie, so I have to eat too fast and rush out the door and now I’m stressed out. There’s no time for an after dinner stroll. We get to the movie and the only concessions are buckets of greasy popcorn and more soda pop. I hate the movie, it’s all loud car chases and explosions, and I feel like I’m enduring it, not enjoying it. My tight waistband is cutting into me as I sit there, and starting to cause problems. It’s too late by the time the movie is over, already past my bedtime, and I still haven’t had any decent food. I get home without enough time to decompress before bed. Now it’s too late for a snack.I have to get up early the next morning and I won’t get enough sleep, so tomorrow is already looking grim. Best I can do at this point is have a small cup of high volatile oil peppermint tea and hope that now I don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to pee. This date was not worth it.But you are not alone.Heather's IBS Newsletter can’t continue without your support. Please become a paid subscriber.P.S.
