Would Yeshua and His Apostles charge fees for teachings?

Can you imagine Yeshua (Jesus) and His apostles selling their teachings like many ministers in the 21st century do today? Yeshua stated, " . . . freely you have received, freely give." (Matthew 10:8).  What does the Bible say about this? What about Jewish tradition since Jesus is a Jew and He said that salvation is of the Jews (John 4:22)?
