Wrestling Omakase #134: 90s Puro Draft & Wrestle-1 Closure w/ Paul, Gerard & Flae

This week on Wrestling Omakase it's time for our first fantasy draft of 2020 with our first historical draft ever, the 90s Puro Draft! With the Coronavirus unfortunately at least postponing the beginning of the New Japan Cup, we had to switch around this week's episode (and we still hope to bring you the originally planned NJC Pick 'Em down the line if things work out) but we've still got a really fun episode for you this week! John is joined by returning guests Gerard (@GerardDiTrolio) and Paul (@Darth_Dragon) and debuting guest Flae (@flaeblazer) for a great deal of draft fun. But before they begin their draft, the four of them break into a bit of a mini-discussion on the other breaking news out of Japan this week: the upcoming closure of the Wrestle-1 promotion. Hear their thoughts on some of the company's seven-year history, the sudden announcement of their closure and what could be (and what probably isn't) behind it, and they go over W-1's remaining schedule of shows as well. This is definitely a topic Omakase plans to revisit on future episodes so stay tuned!After that's over they begin their draft with the following simple rules: only men's wrestlers are eligible (so we can do a separate 90s Joshi Draft episode later on) and only wrestlers who appeared in at least 10 matches in Japan in the 1990s. After the order is picked all four of them each make 22 total picks, and once they've all made their picks they put together their dream supercards.
