The object of wrestling is to gain superior advantage over your opponent. The sport is one of the oldest forms of combat, which dates back thousands of years. In fact, there are cave drawings that illustrate the art of grappling. Wrestling was the focal sport of the ancient Olympic Games. It's even depicted in the Bible. As Christians, we too understand what it's like to wrestle. Spiritually, we wrestle with our pride and own self-sufficiency. However, do you know what happens when we allow our pride and our own self-sufficiency to gain a superior advantage over us? We falsely believe that we do not need Jesus.
