What this episode covers
Mike Sacks is a hybrid-published humorist with multiple novels and collaborations under his belt. He’d been contributing humor pieces to national magazines and papers for a number of years before he truly hit his stride. As a student of comedy, his epiphany was realizing that for legends like George Carlin and Richard Pryor, it was only when they dropped the pretense and became themselves that their careers truly took off. Since that time, he’s been focused on projects that are purely for his own joy and benefit. When he self-published Stinker Lets Loose, a 1970s trucker satire, he couldn’t have predicted that someone would produce that idea into an audiobook starring Jon Hamm.
