Write Your First Book With Laura Mae Northrup
In this episode you're going to hear how my guest wrote a book that matters. For a full year, she sat herself down and focused in on this project which is now a significant part of her legacy. If you're considering writing a book or taking on any big and important project, you'll want to hear this. Laura Mae Northrup is an author, educator, somatic psychotherapist, and podcaster. Her book Radical Healership which came out in February is a spiritually-informed and anticapitalist guide for healing practitioners who seek to build a values-driven healing practice. She is the host and creator of the podcast Inside Eyes, an audio series about people using entheogens and psychedelics to heal from sexual trauma. Her work focuses on defining sexual violence through a spiritual and politicized lens, mentoring healing practitioners in creating a meaningful path, and supporting the spiritual integrity of our collective humanity. Here's some of what we talked about: Her reaction when people told her not to make a podcast about people using psychedelics and entheogens to heal sexual trauma How she got offered a book contract to write Radical Healership Writing the book during the pandemic Developing her writing rituals and building those muscles Having brutally honest people read her drafts How she found the time to write her book in a year Maintaining her writing practice now that the book is out Why we sometimes don't write the book or create our work: it's an emotional and spiritual issue Show notes at http://rebeltherapist.me/podcast/175
