Writing in Colour (Episode 3): A Romance in Colour Special Series (ft. Mona Shroff)

from Romance in Colour · host Tati R. and Yaki E

Can Romance and Culture connect? Romance in Colour is starting a new series, Writing in Colour, where we talk to authors of color from various backgrounds and locations,  who are writing in the romance genre. We are highlighting the diversity of the genre and highlighting #Ownvoices with authors who are actively working to amplify writing that is unique, diverse, and most of all, romantic. What do Blue Jeans and Hot Indian Couples have to do with, well, anything?  Well, our guest for this week's Writing in Colour series, optometrist turned debut romance author Mona Shroff  (www.monadshroff.com  Twitter: @MonaShroffWrite  IG: @MonaShroffAuthor ) knows a thing or two about that. Her novel, Then, Now and Always  (HQN Books, 2020) came out in January. She talks about the writing process and all the things that she loves about romance. We also delve into her ability to turn the conventional notions of what's it like to be an Indian-American woman on its head via her work.  We talk about diversity, culture, and its importance in storytelling. And how sometimes, just being at the right place at the right time, can impact your opportunities. Pick up Mona's book via Amazon (mass market and Kindle), Audible, and Barnes and Noble, and wherever books are sold! In our Watching Romance segment, we take a slight departure and talk romantic comedy with The Lovebirds, featuring two leads of color: Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani.  Note: We have a giveaway! Listen to the Podcast for more information on that!!!  (Winner must reside in the United States or Canada). Follow Romance in Colour on IG: @RomanceinColour and on Twitter @ RomanceNColour
