WSIB Cuts 566 Jobs Amid AI Push | Calgary News

The WSIB in Ontario just laid off 566 employees—union and non-union alike—sparking alarm over the future of workplace injury support. While officials say it’s a necessary modernization push, including deploying AI to handle repetitive tasks, workers like Brittnee Gauthier fear injured claimants will suffer. Former staff were even asked to train the very AI replacing them, raising concerns this could be just the start of deeper cuts. Despite assurances services remain unchanged, many question whether the human touch is fading for those who need it most.
