WSU and VCU Renew Rivalry in 2027 | Wichita State Shockers Basketball News

Wichita State and VCU are reviving their basketball rivalry with a new home-and-home series starting in 2027, after a similar matchup in 2018-19 where the home team always won. The all-time series is tied 3-3, with Wichita’s last win coming in a 73-63 victory in December 2019. Both teams finished strong in recent seasons: VCU went 28-8, winning their conference and reaching the NCAA Tournament’s second round; Wichita State posted 24 wins and made its second straight postseason appearance under coach Paul Mills, who’s steadily building a powerhouse. With ten key players returning, expectations are sky-high for both squads. Shocker fans can grab limited lower bowl season tickets now—fewer than 250 left—at GoShockers.com/Tickets or by phone. Plus, the We Fight For Wichita Fund is running a matching challenge: every donation up to $500K is doubled. Support the program at GoShockers.com/Giving or contact the WSU Development Office.
