WV On The DOT - 12 - Jimmy Wriston and Mike Cronin - Innovations In District 4

from WV on the DOT · host WV on the DOT

Deputy Secretary Jimmy Wriston, P.E. recently appointed Mike Cronin, P.E., to serve as the District 4 Engineer for Monongalia, Preston, Taylor, Harrison, Marion and Doddridge counties. On this week's episode of our WV on the DOT podcast, we introduce Mike Cronin. One specific challenge for District 4 is that long underfunded road maintenance has led to pothole ridden roads in areas such as Preston County, where WVDOH is utilizing a reclaimer to get a smooth driving surface on many roads quickly. The reclaimer helps build a road base free of potholes, and with an appropriate crown in the middle to keep water draining off the roads. The roads will then be paved, tar and chipped, or left gravel, based on their Average Daily Traffic counts. Cronin also updates listeners on paving and medical access roads projects in District 4, while Wriston gives an update on major projects in different parts of the state
