Previously, the state committee opened the primaries up to independent or non-affiliated voters. Last year, state executive committee member, and today's guest, Jim Butler introduced a proposal to close the primary to registered Republican voters only. The proposal passed, but was ammended to not be implemented until after the 2024 Primary.
