WW010: The Au Pair

from Wandering Workers Podcast · host Michelle Valenti

For Ashley, a high school babysitting gig is what jump started a passion for travel. When the family whose kids she watched returned to France, they invited her to visit. Summer trips eventually turned into a full year in which she lived with the family as an Au Pair. She has always been careful to balance travel with career, following her own advice to, "Do what you want but be smart about it." Now she continues to seek the perfect balance of work and exploration. In this episode of the Wandering Workers Podcast we dive into the right way to balance career with adventure, especially as a recent college graduate. Should she travel first and then try to build a career or build a career and then travel? Either way it was hard to convince her 20-something-year-old self to trust her choices, whatever those choices turned out to be.
