WWII Project 3.31.19:John Schaffner Drafted Immediately After High School Graduation

Welcome to the Americhicks WWII Project podcast. Kim Monson is your host. John Schaffner was 18 years old when he was drafted and had only graduated from High School two weeks earlier. John was sent to Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was then assigned to the 589th Field Artillery Battalion of the 106th Infantry Division. The 106th was sent to the European Theater and later take part in the Battle of the Bulge.
