If you’ve ever felt an overbearing weight of responsibility on your shoulders from the expectation of others, you’ll certainly relate to Wynnr De Castro. Wynnr was born in the Philippines to parents who came from a poor background and lived by an ethos of hard work. With his father now a doctor the expectations on Wynnr to excel academically and follow a similar pursuit were high, but as he struggled to come to terms with the unrelenting pressure, Wynnr fell into a deep depression during his high school years. It was a hard road, but ultimately Wynnr was able to overcome his depression and is now studying Medicine at Bond University, where he says he’s the happiest he’s ever been in his life. This is a story of how he turned the bleakest period of his existence into a fulfilling personal mission and how he hopes to be able to make a difference to the lives of others as a medical professional.
