What's up guys, welcome back to Kinda Funny Games, I'm Tim Gettys, this is Andy Cortez, that is Brad Miller, Google Gamescast E3 Specials, exactly, this is our post-show analysis of Xbox's conference this year, we're going to go through all the announcements they made and talk about all of our thoughts, you can get this show live on Twitch when we're recording or you can get it later as a video on YouTube.com slash Kinda Funny Games or as a podcast, all you gotta do is search for Kinda Funny Gamescast on your favorite podcast service and you can get there, yeah, let's get right into it, sure, top level thoughts, Microsoft E3 2019, go, they didn't deliver, no, this was, we talked about it going into this, right, and this is, you know, I'm doing the Greg character, I'm not, one of the things I said when PlayStation said they weren't going to E3, was it would be interesting to see if when we got here we would say, man, what a smart move by Sony or what a dumb move by Sony, and I think based on what I'm seeing in the chat as we were talking about in the pre-show here on Twitch, it was this conversation of like, see, this is why Sony didn't do this, Microsoft came out a lot of 2020 talk, right, and they were doing these exact same tees for Scarlet if they did for Xbox One X, where it was like, all right, next year we're talking about this thing, it's like, well, okay, well, why, okay, like that, there was no, this should have been a slam dunk on paper, no PlayStation there to compete with, you're gonna come out and you're gonna prove, bam, this is why everybody should, if not play Xbox right now, like, as soon as this conference is over, why, you should be jazzed for next generation for the next box, and I do not think they did it, saying Halo Infinite in holiday 2020 did not do that for me, I know you guys were excited about the trailer and stuff, but that didn't do it for me, I'm excited, obviously, for Scarlet and the, I'm excited for streaming, which is coming in October, you know, they're testing it right now on E3 and stuff, that's cool, but again, it wasn't like, what was the biggest announcement of this? Keanu Reeves, in Cyberpunk, which is going everywhere, okay, cool, like, I love Cyberpunk, I love the demo, and this is the normal thing we get into with these press conferences, I think this was a good press conference, for sure, lots of interesting games, a really good pace, they got in a lot of stuff I didn't care about too much, not to me, but I mean how this is, you gotta have something for everybody to do it, maybe a bit too long, I think, there's only so much human attention span, you can give things, and then you get into games that clearly aren't going to connect, it had a lot of cool announcements, a lot of good news and all stuff, but not stuff where I'm like, holy shit, I need to be playing on my Xbox more, I need to have everything, for me personally, what, State of the Day today, that's the big reason, I think they have a lot of good Game Pass stuff coming up to date, but a lot of those games are coming to other consoles, so it's not locked to that, it's just, it didn't, it did not, I don't think, and I don't speak for us for sure, Greg Miller, especially, this was not what I wanted, I talked about in the pre-show, I wanted this to be all the, all these different cool things Xbox does, coming together to be like, bam, this is what Xbox is and why you should be on board, instead of just like every Xbox conference it was, where it's like, hey, we're doing a whole bunch of cool shit, it's all happening, come get part of it if you want to, but like, not, this is why you need to be here now. I think the George R. R.

Martin game didn't get leaked beforehand, this might have had, you know, a bigger sort of shock factor, but we knew that that was coming in, that we were going to get it here, and it happened, and for me it was underwhelming, you know, it was just some plot stuff, some, like, fantasy, mythical things that I don't really have any, like, I don't know how to connect to it in any way, you know, it's based on a, on a prior IP or anything like that. I was, yeah, because I, I'm more excited for the fan, and I saw some Souls fans in the chat that were like, I'm stoked for this, like, I am too, but that trailer really didn't do anything for me, I think, I agree with you, Greg, the Cyberpunk thing is like the most exciting thing I've got with Keanu Reeves, I wish I would say that towards, more towards the end, right before maybe the Starlet reveal, because that, like, they started off with a bang, and for the most part, it was like an hour and a half of just kind of chilling. What's up, Greg? Kevin, can you feel that?

Um, yeah, I am very, very underwhelmed by this, I agree with you, Greg, that this was a, it was a good conference, a lot of video games that look great, like, video games are cool, we're at a point now, 2019, look in 2020, like, there's a lot of games that look of a very, very high quality, in terms of Microsoft owning the conversation, they didn't. No, I mean, like, I'm sorry, I'm just, I think that we all, there's a lot of things that we were told, um, and X-Cloud being one of them, right, and what do we know now that we didn't, going into this, October, uh, talking about the, the next-gen console, they made a big deal and presented on E3 stage what Sony did in that interview with, uh, with Wired, and it's like, that's not, that's not impressive, it's like, okay, cool, like, there was nothing they said that I'm, like, wowed by, and it's like, they got real into techno mumble-jumbo, and it's like, that's all exciting stuff, but we need to see that stuff in action, and the way they showed it in action was Halo Infinite, yeah, cool, play Halo music, I'm gonna get excited, like, that's, that's easy, I expected to see Halo gameplay, I expected to know what that game is, I don't, and I understand it's still a year and a half away, it doesn't matter, uh, like, this was their, Sony's gonna be at E3 next year, you know, like, they're gonna have more competition, this was their time to be like, look, we know what we're doing, and it's like, I don't believe I think it needed to be presented in a way, and I'm not trying to be an asshole at all either, and I know it's apples and oranges in a lot of ways, but just a heads up, right, they had 60 games today, right, it took two hours, we have 60, we have 60 plus games in the showcase, and it's 45 minutes, not because, like, we're fucking bad at it, it's because we know that, like, what's your, what is your interest level for all these indies and stuff you don't know, right, like, let's get it out there, and it's the same thing we talked about before, like, this was a traditional Microsoft conference, I feel like this is like, I think that, like, after Cyberpunk, it fell off a cliff, and it never, it never came back, and the Gears segment, like, that is a perfect example of how not to do stuff at a press conference, they spent, what, 10 minutes? We went under the stage, I mean, I forgot to Xavier, that's cool, but, like, why is it? We went under the stage to reveal a TV that is showing a trailer, that's cool production value, and it's like, if they kept things moving, I would have liked those type of, like, interstitials, but, just doing that, and then what they showed for Gears 5, again, coming out in September, we didn't see any gameplay, like, we need to see gameplay for these things, like, they know that, why don't we, why don't we get into every 10 minutes, like, coming out in months, like, that's really underwhelming, you look at the first party line, it's like, Bleeding Edge looks really dope, but besides that, it's like, there was no major exclusive announcements that were made, and Halo Infinite, it's like, what did they show then?

We knew that last year, and that still wasn't gameplay, you know, so, I don't know, man, like, it's, all the flops that they have, and all that, that's great, are any of these games going to look as good as PlayStation first party titles, ever, you know, and it's the same thing we talked about in the lead-in, too, on all the games casting games daily, right, is the idea that, well, you have all these studios you've acquired, but, like, what can they put out in a year since you've announced that, right, and we were hoping for teaser trailers, maybe gameplay looks, whatever, you know, for the most part, we didn't get those from the big studios, cool, again, cool news that they picked out Double Fine, but I assume that, I mean, Psychonauts are still coming everywhere, I mean, like, all the agreements and stuff coming into that, because, um, Psychonauts 2 is being published by who? Fox, help me, no? Hold on, I got it, it's the guys who did The Walking Dead, Starbourse's, I think the show started off strong, like, we started off with The Outer Worlds, right, which is a great game, and it was an interesting, it was a weird trailer, because I've seen a lot of that game for trailers and interviews and stuff, and it's always giving off more of a lightheartedness, that the trailer eventually got to, but it was just a weird one. This is like a world-building sort of thing, and then what are we going through after that, Blair Witch?

Yeah, Blair Witch looks awesome. I'm excited about that. This wasn't a bad conference. There's a lot of great games in here that I'm interested in, but I don't understand why I'm going to run out to play in my next box like Outer Worlds.

I guess I'm digressing. There's so many things in here that are going to be in multiple places. Outer Worlds, I thought it was cool. Leading at Strange Theory, not my kind of game.

That's not my thing. Ori and Will of the Wisps, of course I know. But again, 2020. So ways out.

Minecraft Dungeons, I thought it was awesome. Spring 2020. Jedi Fallen Order, again, third party. I thought it was a really good trailer.

Especially after that one, I know you were already on it. That Player Wish World for me, I thought it was really cool. I thought it looked really nice. That's coming up.

So, starting off with Outer Worlds. I agree with you that this was a very different tone from what we've seen. I think it looked good. This is the most interesting I've been in.

No, definitely not. I thought it looked awesome. You see that sort of typical mouth capture in a couple of moments. I think it looks cool.

It's going to be a world that people are stoked to explore and live in for 60 plus hours, hopefully. It looks like a giant game with a lot of different branching paths and a lot of different NPCs to talk to and learn and get to know. I think it looks awesome. I'm super interested in that video.

Of course, this is from the team that brought you Fallout New Vegas. They know how to craft this. Exactly. And not having Bethesda on them for better or worse.

I mean, South Park, right? The first one. There's a lot of good stuff going on there. I'm excited to be a part of it.

A lot of awesome worlds to live in also. I mean, you show a sort of space world with neon lights on in, dude. I thought it was really great that it was part of Xbox Game Pass Day 1 thing. Because we know that first part titles are, but this was like one of those weird middle ground.

Before the deal and all that, but it's awesome. They're committing to it. October, I'm excited for it. So then Teenager, we got to see Bleeding Edge.

The leak trailer happened last week. High quality with audio and all that. I thought it looked fun. I thought it looked cool.

If you're here for the first time, it's third-person competitive multiplayer. 4v4. Online Melee. Game Pass.

Launch. Alpha's in June in the 20s. I just feel like this isn't the type of game I want from Legendary. I like their single player games.

There's a moment in the trailer where it's like from the makers, I love all those games. So it's like, I don't know, not a multiplayer game. This looks like it could be fun. And it definitely seems like it has Overwatch meets Power Stone.

What was the Gearbox game? That's my problem. When it pops up and I'm not... They're like third-person competitive multiplayer.

There's an off chance it'll grab me, but there's a great chance it won't. And I feel like there's a giant bucket of those games that you can just toss things in there. For better or worse, I'm saying it's Overwatch and stuff like that. The one that I saw, the arena one where you shoot and smash and die and get knocked out of the arena.

I don't remember the name of it. Chat let me know. Rocket something. I guess I just see a game like this, and I feel like if this were a game being announced at Blizzcon, the Blizzard fan base would say, Oh, that's a new Blizzard multiplayer game, I want to get in on that.

But I just don't see fans of Ninja Theory being like, I want to play a multiplayer game that would take me away from the other multiplayer games I already play. See, I think that there potentially is an audience for it though, people that are into those stylish action games, that would rather want the opportunity to play against people, like PvP. There could be an audience for that, but it just seems weird. It does seem like an Xbox Game Pass game.

I'm worried that maybe Game Pass turns into this thing where it's like, we're going to see less long hardcore AAA titles and more things that feel like modes of video games, like side projects, right? But when you start seeing all these characters with their names, I'm just like, man, everyone's just trying to catch that 2016 Overwatch high. And so few games have done it, like you look at Apex, and it's like, can you name the characters in Apex? That's fantastic, they did their job, right?

I wonder if anyone can name the characters that were in Battleborn. That's not his name, the guy with a tiny head. Then next up we got a little Minecraft section, Minecraft Dungeons. Let's go through and loot in some co-op, you're playing with three other people, awesome, cool.

I swear I've seen it before. Blair Witch, kind of came out of nowhere, looks awesome, didn't get too much info on it. I never played Alan Wake, so I was like, I don't know if that's exciting or not, I don't know if people liked it, but was Alan Wake good? Or was it just one of those things where people held on because it was exclusive?

I didn't like it, I remember beating it, I mean like, I don't really think this game, but it blew my mind when I saw it because I thought, oh my god, they mean Alan Wake first, because the whole thing in Alan Wake is a flash drive, and you shine to the enemies, that's kind of one of the big systems in it. Alan Wake didn't click for me, I've played it for a while. But I remember, people who like Alan Wake love Alan Wake. So I do think it's a good game, I think it's one that didn't work for me.

The chat's saying that Alan Wake is a cult classic. Yeah, exactly, that's how I determined it. But yeah, that looks cool, Blair Witch definitely gets me more interested than Alan Wake. Seeing this on the gameplay, you were saying that the scary scene, like narrative-based, Yeah, it actually seems like there's a better story there.

Not that Alan Wake didn't have stories, I was comparing it more to Outlast now. Where it's like, I'm a reporter, I'm trapped, I'm trapped here in those crazy things. They'll have accents like that. At some point we got Ori, I think it was here.

Number three was Ori, Will the Wisps. Okay, cool. Ori looked incredible. It looked like what you want to see from a sequel to a game like that, right?

Like, hey, we have this great thing, and let's increase the scale not to a crazy level, but increase the scale and change it. Where it's like, okay, you're platforming with funny giant things and running from giant things. Like, I don't remember ever seeing that in what I saw of Ori, which I didn't play the entire thing. Yeah, Ori was great seeing this, I was like, no, this is very, very impressive.

I didn't expect to see this level of, like, animation. Yeah, really, everything, because we know the gameplay's there. So that's really exciting. The date, February 2020, way later than I expected.

Like, way, way, way later. I thought this game was going to come out, like, November last year. So, being here now, like, it's that far away, I'm like, all right, wow. I feel like I've been reading the words Will the Wisps for the last day.

Yeah, that's the thing for sure. I feel like it's been around. We've heard about it. But still, looks great.

Very sad and sad. That's the perfect example of the type of game. I'm like, take your time. I don't really care.

I don't need to play it right now. Yeah, for sure, right? As long as it's great, I really think it's going to be. Then, yeah, Cyberpunk, dude.

Jesus. That impressed the hell out of me. And, like, I know that most of it was, like, CG stuff. That CG looked great.

It looked like, we know it's a world that we want to see more of. I'm like, this game looks like it could just be perfect. Yeah, and again, they put a date on it, right? April 16th, 2020.

And I know we've been talking about 2020 games. More for, like, what Xbox is messaging and why you play an Xbox. For me, that's great. So far up until you're right, Cyberpunk has been, when it's ready, it'll be ready.

Like, that kind of thing. So, come on, have a great trailer. That's with Keanu Reeves being in the game. Keanu Reeves being out there.

Keanu Reeves, so awesome. Love that he's in this. Love that they brought him out. Love the way they did that.

How much time they gave him to just, like, be him. To announce the release date. And release date earlier than I expected. I was really thinking May.

Not that it's that far away from that. But April, hell yeah, man. I think it's a perfect time for that game to come out and really flourish. That's around when Witcher 3 came out, right?

Yeah, because that was May. We took Witcher to Momocon. I think that hits the date. It doesn't get pushed back.

I think it hits it. I think that if they had said this year, they would not hit it. But April, that's far away from that. I definitely, honestly, do think Cyberpunk slips.

I do not think they hit April. I hope they do. I want to play it as soon as possible. They've been so about, hey, when it's ready, it's ready.

I just feel like they wouldn't, I don't know. I'll bet the pizza gets pushed. The main protagonist that we saw, he was in the first time we ever saw him. That was like that sort of gameplay.

Yeah. Or no, it was CG. But back then he was, you know, here in this city, blah, blah, blah. And here, you know, the tone was perfect.

I feel like it just looked awesome. See, I wonder, though. Because with that, like I feel like a lot of our criticism last time was with the abundance of swear words. And they bleeped them out here.

So maybe... One of the things coming out of that Pine Closed Doors demo was how bad that one guy who was doing like a Hispanic thing, right? Yeah, yeah. What was he saying?

Whatever the fuck. I mean, it's the same guy. It sounded like him. Again, he was dying.

Yeah. No, but the main protagonist, the first time we saw him, it was very much that prototypical, stereotypical, here in this city, there are no rules. And here, I just liked the tone of this whole trailer. It felt like you were in it like, this was a sort of mid-game mission.

Yeah. And shit's going down and you've crossed the wrong people. It just looks so dope, dude. Yeah, I thought that looked great.

Interesting, it's the current gen still. They're committing to this and I know that they had to. But coming out in April, it's not going to be a dual situation. Only one extra PS4 Pro.

I mean, the last thing is I'm playing this on Xbox One X. Oh my god, for sure. Yeah. I just couldn't believe that.

I guess seeing his face kind of blew me away and then the fact that he actually came out on stage was really badass. Yeah, I mean like that was the moment of this conference. And that's the moment of this conference was for a third party game that's going everywhere. You don't want that.

If you're anybody If everything isn't everywhere Then you have to have a reason To be excited for everyone And on top of that It's like, you know Cyborg looks great Not taken away from that But we know that game looks great We know that game looks great We gave our game of the show Ever last year In terms of excitement And it's like, you know People always criticize us Me specifically for being excited For what's not there But it's like, there was no Capcom There was no third party New thing that's like Holy shit, that's awesome Even if it is going everywhere Right? The conference lacked That level of hype and excitement Everything had Resident Evil Exactly It's like, where was that? It doesn't need to be Capcom I had no idea what that game is Alright, continuing down We got Spirit Fair This was one of the world premieres Coming to Game Pass Of course, build a KRXplore And learn how to say goodbye By Thunder Lotus Cool Wow, that sounds dope Thunder Lotus? Is that favorite?

The game you're like I mean, no I want to get a beer I like the art style It seemed like a fun, whimsical game Yeah, Joey was all about it You're building a little house And hugging a deer goodbye Alright, cool I will not play that A lot of beer, man At this conference Battletoads was then shown Gotta say they did their very best To get me excited I expect it to work I mean, I'll give it a shot I've never been a big Battletoads guy I didn't like the game It was back in the day Yeah, she didn't like how it played You weren't punk rock enough No, I definitely was not I was a rocker You was all about Battletoads? Were you ready? I love Battletoads, fuck yeah I'm not the type who ever beat it or anything But trust me, I rented it over five times But I thought it looked really good I said this during the watch along But I really am sick of the flash animation style That just makes games look really cheap Back in the day with Alien Hominay and shit It was like, whoa, this looks so dope and cool Now it's like, alright guys You gotta step up Especially when we have things like Ori That look that beautifully animated And Spirit Fair have the same thing Why was that at the Microsoft conference, man? That's weird Trying to put out games, right?

Put that in the montage That's a montage game It's either a montage game Or you sit there and you play it and you explain it Because what you said What are we doing here? What is this game? I thought that was this game Yeah, exactly And I don't understand what the moment-to-moment game is slash was And then we were in the IDXbox indie montage These are all games that are coming past day and date I did not get them all Because it was all going I think I saw some stuff A lot of awesome games A lot of visually appealing stuff Sure, yeah, yeah They started with Dead State Drive Which I'm pretty sure is a name change For a game I've seen before Which I've talked about before I think you're thinking Overland Am I? Maybe Are you saying I'm thinking the same game?

I think you're thinking Overland But I don't Does it look like this game? Yeah, is that not it? No, I don't think So that's bad for both of them Yeah, okay then Very, very, like There's no perspective It's very orthographic Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah You're right, you're right Then the Shirt Creature in the Wild Star Renegade After Party, Tabs, The Good Life Chris Code is what I wrote Supermarket Shriek But there's games that I miss And again, I'm not trying to talk shit And say we're better This is why we don't do the montage this way This is a terrible way to present these games It's back to I wish they showed the names It's back to Wait, do that all the time Why they said I won PlayStation This is I don't understand how the industry Hasn't adopted more of what we did in December Maybe I'll do VO over them But little bugs that pop up Who they are in a genre of the game Because yeah, that's a terrible way To present all those games Now great that I know part of this is Hey, journalists You're going to go to the Xbox Arcade or whatever Add E3 and be able to play some of this stuff But yeah Again, I was a little upset With the omission of a couple things Last night Very sad about that Where is it? It's been years now Cuphead DLC announced last year Not here This just feels like such a lame follow-up To last year's conference Where I feel like there's so many questions I still won't have answered Even talking about these Well, that's the anyway Last year's was John Wick 1 And we won a John Wick 2 this year And instead we got Fucking What's the shitty Tom Cruise one?

Jack Reacher Jack Reacher I know, Eric, like part one I'm talking about Jack Reacher Sarah Bond came out Did the whole game pass thing Gave the spiel Game pass ultimate Cool, great I feel like that's the focus they need to have Is one place to get all of the $15 Batman Arkham Knight Metro Exit is Hollow Knight What a way has a handsome collection on Xbox Game Pass today Metro Exit is cool That was a really Sort of shocking surprise I wasn't expecting a game that new And that big, right? To come to Game Pass Today, right? Yeah, that's crazy But again, Game Pass is like I know that it's hard to judge these things Against our expectations But, alright Game Pass did not evolve today Right? You got a different name on it And it's coming to PC We already knew that from a couple days ago Yeah, but it's like Alright, there's nowhere else it's going There's like no new The company's switching gets lofty But just the way that they talked about it I just feel like there's a lack of new information This felt more like a commercial Than previous conferences That's what I was going to say I wanted to stop at the top of them We were getting into Is that I know There's been so much scuttlebutt In the Twitter sphere This week with Jason and Imran And a whole bunch of different Journos and people having their take And then fans and developers And personalities Stepping up and arguing back and forth And maybe just hard conversating Not arguing But there being this conversation Like E3's a commercial Why do you care about things Getting spoiled back and forth Back and forth This Xbox conference Is I think what they're thinking of And what most people are probably thinking of When they think of E3 as a commercial This was a commercial in the way of This to me was not With the exception of Keanu Reeves Opening the present on Christmas morning Being blown away at what it is Right?

Like that's what you wanted me To be a conference You can talk about your dreams Where every trailer You're like Holy shit how is this happening? This wasn't very much like Let me tell you about the services You can subscribe to today At this kind of rate That'll be great later on too And here's our conference We'll tell you about next time We're in You just probably Exactly And there's And because it's E3 You get it for $1 And there's Don't go wrong That's still fun to watch It's just not nearly as fun It's like Hey this feels like a cool event When it doesn't just feel like Hey this is a proper commercial Yeah But if you don't see Xbox Game Pass or PC of course Today they're adding Emperor Rome Not Emperor Rome Emperor Rome Football manager Then Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition Great I'm sure people are excited about that Wasteland 3 Craig Miller hates it That's on that Yes I have known Again Wasteland 2 I thought it was a bad trailer For Wasteland 2 I didn't think Somebody tinkered with Wasteland 2 Like not for me That definitely didn't make it Even before we knew It was Wasteland 3 I was like this is a bad trailer I'm not interested What you're doing here Then Double Fine Announced to be a new Microsoft Game Studio Pretty big Austin Schafer He was funny He's great Psychonauts 2 New trailer Still no release date Yeah Because we've talked as long as we have I can confirm that I've seen Psychonauts 2 Played in front of me It looks real cool That was one of the reasons I don't know if you saw me Tweet about it over the weekend I started Psychonauts 1 I want to play through that And Romance the Room Before I got Psychonauts 2 Even though they don't release it Because Psychonauts 2 looks cool Like the platform looks fun Like you know what Tim we always talk about Like Crash and other games Like a modern PS2 game Yeah exactly Sometimes that vibe to it But it is in fact like Hey this is a great game It's going to be fun to play In a modern time They double fine confirmed That Psychonauts 2 Is still coming to every platform Great So it'll be like their next game Yeah Then after that We got Lego Star Wars The Skywalker saga 2020 Cool I just feel like that's another example Like you need to understand your audience And starting a trailer with A long time ago In Dalsy Far Far Away There's expectations there And then when it's Lego It was like a I feel like it's not a X-Box More on WB though For WB showing up And that's all they had to show How we still not get Rocksteady How we still not get WB Montreal It's weird I mean we can We can be like How do we still get this And that And the answer is pretty clear And again I know this does nothing From my online impression Of people who hate me It's what Playstation saw They looked at the landscape And they're like Wow okay Yeah we're about to transition To a new console No real reason to do this No real reason to come out And get dragged through the cold Like we're dragging Microsoft Through the cold right now Yeah It's cool that it's a new game though Like going through all the Star Wars stuff Like we got the children There was so Force Awakens Force Awakens is one thing Yeah so it's right They're also following up Like Last Jedi now And then the new one Dragon Ball Kakarot Yeah Kakarot That's what he calls Goku Vegeta call it Yeah It's kind of like Kal-El Got it I think it's pretty cool I'm kind of playing through A lot of the series But with the sort of Current aesthetics of Xenoverse Where I feel like now I mean, I remember playing all the way through 2 with Wee Bobby Canada, IG, and it's just like, all right, this is something we did, but I didn't love this.

Most of my stuff should be fun for party mode. The chat seems to be saying, like, the next KG says, trust I did nothing for Gears fans. And most people seem to be saying that. Cohen says it made sense to us fans.

Making sense of being joyful. Different things. The Elite Series 2 controller showing off. Great for people that really care on that granular level of the controller.

I'm fine with the Elite controller I have. The bigger issue I have with the Elite controllers is I feel like it should have Xbox ID. Being able to customize and do all that. Oh, yeah, like, you can go to the controller line.

Design line, yeah, 100%. Is it not called ID? No, that's Nike. Not the ID.

ID, Xbox, which is everything. Yeah, what's the way? It's got 40 hours of charge. It's blue, too.

It can have three profiles, shorter trigger locks, adjustable thumbstick, tension. Yeah. And he's going to be using it. Tension looks dope.

Really excited about that. But again, here's the thing. I will see you play myself on PlayStation 4. Trophies.

Dying Light 2, Spring 2020. Not Troy Baker is the protagonist. It didn't sound like Roger Craig Smith, either. That's the thing.

I know Roger, obviously, the voice is. I think people might just be saying names to you. Well, no, it makes sense, right? Because Mercer replaced Troy as Kanji in, not Persona Golden, right?

I think Persona, the fighting game. No, no, the dancing game. Oh, maybe Q? I don't know.

Chat, you know better than me. Yeah, it's kind of weird. Looking at the rest of the show from here, it's like, oh, wow, they really decided to line up this way. Here's the game, Dying Light 2, Spring 2020, and then Forza Horizon with the LEGO Speed Champions expansion this week.

Yeah. Again, you're a Forza fan? Great. You're a State of the K fan.

I know what you said. If you're a Forza fan, is it great? It seems like a weird collaboration, right? More content, sure, but I don't know if the Forza fans are screaming for LEGO.

I don't think they're screaming, but I think they're definitely going to hop in and play it. I think they will absolutely be there, yeah. I'm excited to have the K2. It's kind of long.

So this Heartland DLC, new story, two different paths. It's on Xbox New Pass today. I'm going to jump into that. If I'm not exhausted.

Yeah, Chrono Land says it's like the Hot Wheels expansion. It was awesome. It's cool to get new things in the games that you already love and enjoy. Yeah, absolutely.

I do feel like Hot Wheels lends itself more to a racing game than LEGO. I think it'll just be really cool to see LEGO pieces like that in the beautiful environment of Forza, like with the lighting that they use. That game is gorgeous. I think it's going to be super interesting.

I just think it's weird that they spend as long as they did on something that is just a small expansion. Sure, yeah. We didn't need to have a LEGO car out there. Gears Pop pre-order soon on mobile devices.

Don't give a shit. Save the K2 Heartland out today. Phantasy Star Online 2, Spring 2020. I'm sure there's a large amount of people that are very excited about that.

That's a big get for Xbox. Then Smilegate was announced as a big deal. Smilegate. Yeah, that was a developer, right?

Yeah. I've never heard of him. I know. I feel like I've talked to this guy.

They gave a big reveal for him. I was like, okay, cool. I guess. Enjoy.

Yeah. We have that. All right. A lot of soldiers doing that.

Horizon Zero. It says Crossfire is a huge game in China. Awesome. I would love to see you play.

You know what that game is? Yeah. Then we got Tales of Arise 2020. Looks really pretty.

I'm happy that those type of JRPGs are still existing and growing forward a bit. I feel like they got stuck in a rut for a while. Very much looking like last-gen games. This looks like a next-gen game.

That was very cool. SS Bass is $180 for the Elite Controller. Yikes. I mean, they're always that expensive.

Borderlands 3. Sure. Another trailer. You're either in, you're out.

It's more interesting that, yeah, the rumored DLC for Borderlands 2 that ties into Borderlands 3 is in fact true. Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary. They announced it there. I have a press release here.

A little bit more information. Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary is a brand-new downloadable campaign expansion for Borderlands 2. The Borderlands Shooter Loot from 2012. That brings players back to the Wiles of Pandora for a brand-new adventure that sets the stage for Borderlands 3, launching on September 13th.

You can download this DLC for free. I'm sorry. Borderlands 2 and the Borderlands Hansel Collection. Proct owners will be able to download this DLC for free until July 8th at midnight.

And then it'll be available for $16. Or $15. If you don't own the Borderlands 2, the Borderlands 2 collection is available, I think, on PlayStation Plus and now Game Pass. I wonder if this thing does that, like what Destiny does, where it levels you up to that point.

If you haven't played Borderlands 2 to completion, don't worry. You'll still be able to jump right in and enjoy the story expansion. While veteran players can pursue the new level cap of 80s, newcomers will be able to get a brand-new level 30 vault hunter. Select character, select screen, and dive straight into the action.

That's awesome. You were right there for me. Dude, that's what we, they call him number one games journalist, number one Andy Lover. Now we're here to support each other.

Then we got Elden Ring, the Dark Souls, George R. R. R. Martin game.

God, I wanted to see gameplay so badly. I wanted to see gameplay, but also, Greg, you're saying, why would you guys be excited about this? I'm excited about it because it's George R. R.

R. Martin. Story-wise, I wanted to see what the aesthetic looked like. It's also interesting because I, again, I don't play Souls games, but holy shit, I watch a lot of Souls games, let's plays.

Oh, yeah? Back in the day, Gingram's playing through Dark Souls 2, I believe, and then Bloodborne. I'm super into watching that sort of content, not necessarily playing it. Even when Sekiro came out, I watched a bunch of Gingrams play that.

So that's why I was really excited for this game. And the fact that we only saw a mythical guy with 14 elbows, right, Kev? Oh, yeah, it's cool. So many elbows!

Yeah, to see that aesthetic to me, I was just like, I know that's what I should have expected, but I got really, really, really excited when we saw Bandai Namco come up. We started seeing the world of Tales of Arise, and I was like, holy shit, is this the other thing? Because if it was that look with this story of the Kingdoms, I'd get behind that. If you've seen this, I'm like, oh, it's more Souls-like stuff.

As soon as they said, it works for a lot of people, and I'm like, it's not for me. But again, I'd want to see gameplay, and maybe it is a bit more Metroidvania-esque in 3D with a very cool story, and that could get me. Probably they won't. But I still think it's cool as shit that George R.

R. R. Martin is consulting or helping out with the game. I think that's really awesome and a huge get for them.

And then Project xCloud. First hands-on this week, console streaming this October. You can use your console as a dedicated server to be able to play anywhere or whatever you're doing. I was flabbergasted how underwhelming that whole segment was, especially given the fact that Google is a player.

They just did a press conference a couple days ago, and we kind of expect, like, oh, Microsoft's going to come in. They have all this infrastructure. They have the games. They didn't say anything that we didn't know, man.

Just the date, right? It's October. All right. It's just weird.

Am I wrong with how underwhelming I am about it? No, you know that I think at the office, I would say, probably, I'm the biggest proponent of this. Like, this is the future I want, this streaming feature. Google, you know, like, we haven't actually been on camera yet since the project.

Stadia. Stadia. I'm sorry, I'm still lost in the project. Since the Stadia live stream, right?

And when I read about it and watched the thing when you guys were acting, talking on my hard dick, thanks for that, Andy. You know, the first thing I did was I went and bought it. Like, I went and bought the founders back. I was like, cool.

I don't know if it's, I don't think it'll be perfect. I don't know how much I'll use it. It seems awesome. I'm all in.

Like, this, this was like a, like, cool. It's the first hands-on show. Can't wait to see what Fran and Snowmike might think of it. And then console streaming, yeah, using it as a server.

I was like, I'm not even 100% sure what you mean by that. And I'm an idiot, of course, so I don't know. But then it's like, I'm like, cool in October. I'll try it out, I guess.

But is that the whole run? And is there an app? And what's going on? Like, I, you either needed to say a lot about it, I feel like, because your debut video about it was so good.

Everybody was talking about it. Now, I use my phone. Oh, my son wants to play the Xbox. He plays the Xbox, and I put my phone, or I, you know, a tablet to control, and you're ready to go.

So, I was just like, okay, I guess, hopefully I'll wait for hands-ons from the thing, and there's more explanation about it, and then go from there. But, outside of that, I'm not jazzed. I'm not any more jazzed than I was before. Maybe even less, because I think Google had a better presentation before.

We've been talking about this for so long now on Games Daily and everything, and it's like, something I keep bringing up, is like, they needed to make it very clear and understandable to people that don't know what the cloud is, what the service is, what it's going to cost, what it's going to look like. I think it's confusing enough, and then bringing up the fact that, yes, you can use your Xbox One X or whatever at home as a home server. That, throwing that to the casual fan that doesn't even know, like, what server is it, I thought it was, like, such a bad one. I don't understand.

I have right here, uh, the official Xbox press release. I haven't read it. Can I just read through it? I got four, three graphs about bringing Xbox to the cloud.

In addition to delivering players the games they want with the people they want, cross-console and PC, Xbox is also empowering people to play wherever they want by bringing Xbox to the cloud. First, Xbox announced the ability to stream games from the Xbox One console, starting in preview this October. With console streaming, gamers will have the access to their Xbox One game library and game pass titles on the go, stream directly from an Xbox One console to a mobile device. The Xbox E3 briefing also marked the new milestone for Project XCloud.

With E3 2019 attendees being among the first in the world to play Xbox One games like Halo 5 Guardians and Hellblade, sending one sacrifice, streaming on smartphones and tablets. With Project XCloud, Xbox is investing to ensure players have the choice and freedom to play the games they want with friends they want, how and where they want. So the home streaming thing is just remote play, right? But it'll work.

But it'll work. Remote play works! I know a lot of people who... It'll work well.

Will it? I mean, that sounds exactly... Where's the Azure server? I mean, that's what I was excited about, right?

Why do you get connected to it? Like, I imagine it's all connected, and they're saying that it's highly integrated or the thing. I think they're going to work together in tandem to actually have it function. To stream to my phone?

So I'm streaming the Azure stuff to my Xbox and my phone. I don't think like 2-2-2, I think it's like together. Yeah, they've confused me now with their strategy. I don't understand what they're saying.

I was excited when it was an Azure Xbox One server going right to my phone. Because guess what? That's different than remote play. If it now is the Azure server going to my Xbox, going to my phone, that's the exact same thing.

I think it's both going to your phone. Individually. Or at the same time. I think it's a hybrid of them working together.

Like, your dedicated system. It's power is all going to it, but also getting back up shit from the cloud. Okay. Yeah, because she did mention like hybrid as if they are working like a co-op mission, Greg.

Mm-hmm. They say fuck load times. They got a custom design processor from AMD. Four times more powerful than Xbox One X.

Sometimes 120 frames per second. 8K. They got a SSD. They're using it as virtual RAM sometimes.

If you know, it gets me fucking excited. They got 40 times plus the performance increases. It's Project Scarlet. It's coming on holiday 2020.

The most exciting thing is holiday 2020. It's confirmed. We now know what next year is coming. Yeah, when it's coming.

But still called Project Scarlet. I just feel like this is such a sidestep. It's weird. It's always that this conference didn't happen.

We would have been like, oh, we know just as much when it comes to next-gen or cloud. We're still getting these new Xbox One models that are going to be more powerful. And also, I still get that feeling when they're talking about these processors and we're using the, you know, the state-of-the-art shit. My media thought was like, well, you still have a year and a half until it comes out.

Like, you know, this is just going to continue to fuel, like, you know, the PC people out there. Like, hey, we always have latest shit. We always have new processors. I just feel like it's too far away to even announce something like that.

It's like Intel Stadia, which is like the other side of it where they're kind of like, there is no hardware that we're committing to. It is tech that's in the cloud that's always going to be able to advance and change, right? Yeah. It's like Intel saying, we have the 10th generation or 11th generation chipset coming out, winner 20 point.

And it's like, well, that's still really fucking far away. I don't know. I just don't understand that strategy. It's in Halo Infinite.

In Halo Infinite. You know, there's, like I said this earlier, but it's like you play Halo music and stuff, you show me cheap. I'm going to be like, all right, let's go. But it's like, I cannot believe we didn't get real gameplay of it.

Like, seeing it, like, at least a demo, like, at least five minutes of showing what this world looks like and showing what next gen can do. Because right now, it's just like, even if that wasn't engine, it didn't look mind-blowing to me, right? Yeah. Like, Gears 5.

And it's like, all right, fine. I think it looked like Cyberpunk. Like, when they showed us the Cyberpunk, the actual gameplay trailer, that's what this looked like to me. There wasn't a whole lot.

But I'm sure in the back end, there's tons of crazy particles and things that we're just not, that aren't really noticeable to the human eye. But I don't know. Yeah, I wasn't super blown away by it, but they hit that music cue. I was like, oh, doggy dog.

I'm in. I just like, I can't believe that's all they shot in Halo Infinite. We don't know what the game is. I thought he was going to walk out into that bright room and then, I was always going to kill him.

I thought he came out of his face or whatever, he's not going to be cheap. Got it. I'm glad I didn't do that. Because I was like, I don't need, you know.

Just give me a re-imagine. You got nothing fucking happened. Wakanda's not there. That's all we know.

Yeah, that was sad. I don't feel like we really needed gameplay. Like, I haven't played Halo, like a mainline Halo since 3 and really been in it. So this was like enough to like, oh, I'm interested to see what we have here and what this does for the future of it.

Like, again, this game is a year and a half out. Like, I don't feel like we need to see gameplay yet. See, I totally disagree. Because it's like, we saw that last year.

It's like, we saw that last year. And more than that, it's like, Halo has never taken a break. We saw more interesting looking Halo stuff last year than this. I don't believe that's true at all.

We saw like three minutes of actually seeing the Warthog and like seeing stuff going on and seeing what the world was like. We saw 20 seconds of a Warthog driving. It was like teasers of environments. Like, you barely knew it was a Halo Infinite game, like until the second half.

I watched that trailer like yesterday. It still looks closer to gameplay than this. I think that's exciting. That's like, oh, Halo's looking a little bit different.

Like, there's animals, there's wildlife. This might as well have been Halo 5 again. And it's like, we just got Halo 5 not long ago. It's like, Halo has not taken a long enough break to show this and have me be like, this is the reboot.

This is the God of War of Halo. You know? And it's like, I feel like at least showing gameplay, like this is going to be different than just, it's more Halo. Gotcha.

But, I don't know, man. Yeah, I was kind of underwhelmed. And then we thought the trailer was over. And then they went back into it.

And then we hear like Cortana talking. But still, I was like, oh, it is over now. Okay, cool. I wish.

Yeah, it was just really underwhelming, man. The music cue is getting jacked up every time. Yeah, Cortana and all that. That's cool.

It's great. Like, this seems to be more of a Master Chief story, which is something I prefer than what we got with the Lock 7.05. Anyway, any closing thoughts? Again, I feel like we're being negative.

I think it was a good conference. I think they had a lot of good games. It's just like, this wasn't the year to be good. This was the year to fucking, fuck, we own E3.

We are Xbox. This is why this needs to happen. And it didn't happen. And we can sit there and be like, oh, what the fuck?

It's like, okay, cool. Maybe the industry just isn't in that place. And that's why PlayStation backed off. And it's why, even if you want to take out the Xbox PlayStation race, right?

Why EA's conference was so different. It wasn't a conference, right? It was EA Play. It was something totally weird.

It was just like, oh, this is a show game. And it's going to be games you already know about, too. Maybe as we are just on that cusp right now of next generation, which means people are batting down the hatches and working on other projects, which means there's less meat, less steak to go around this year, right? So you have to sit here and eat these vegetables.

I just think it's weird that this announcement, I feel like every year we don't win. It's like, well, Xbox, they've been quiet. But they're going to show something. And it's like, this was, we're now, I'd say, four years into that.

And this is what we get. No new IP of a consequence, right? More gears, more Halo. They just feel like more gears, more Halo, more Forza.

And what? Are we waiting for next year? When all the IP, all the first party people are going to know, here's our games. Yeah.

All right. We're going to wait for the year after that. Exactly. It's like, you know, I don't know.

It's when it comes to, it's all these other games at the end of the day. And I'm going to play my third party games on Xbox because right now they do them better. And Cyberpunk can't wait to play that there. But in terms of first party titles, like there's nothing to compare with what PlayStation has.

To end on a happier note, just to make you smile a little bit. Do you want to know what John, uh, uh, uh, Keanu Reeves character in Cyberpunk is called? Do you want to know what's him? I'm trying to be happy.

John. It's actually John. John Wick 2.0 Could CD Projekt Red have gotten any actor right now that's more visible and kind of more of a sensation? There's nobody, dude.

Like with this whole Netflix cameo he had in Always Be My Maybe, just how huge John Wick is right now. There's nobody else they could have gotten. That is like. this much of a household name.

That's so awesome, dude. I can't fucking wait. There you go, ladies and gentlemen. This has been our post-show analysis of Microsoft's E3 2019 conference.

Stay tuned later today. We're going to be doing a live pre-show, watch-along, and post-show for Bethesda's conference. Until then, stay sexy.
